I almost sold my Tundra

More mods. There are always more mods.

I love my 17. The only thing that might have moved me from it was the Army green Pro.
With the crazy car market and the low mileage on mine, it would have to be a hell of a deal to move me off of it.

 

Thought about MAYBE a F350 but I don't really NEED one, plus I like to be able to park places lol. Everytime I turn on the truck and hear that DD BAM I forget about selling

 

I'd sell to get a pre 22 Pro, but thats it.

 

The "mod list" for my 2010 SR5 is two pages long and growing! The ONLY vehicle I'd consider in place of my Tundra is a Sequoia.

 

I've thought about it since I no longer need a full size truck anymore but since it is paid off and running great, I got no reason to get rid of it anytime soon. I've always driven a truck so I look at the Tacoma, Ridgeline, Ranger, and Maverick online just to stay on top of updates. Time is on my side thankfully and at my current rate, I may just keep the Tundra anyways and get a second truck for daily driving.

 

I have three vehicles: truck for towing and hauling and family trips, my car for commuting to work and running around town by myself and wife's car for running around town with the family.

If I got rid of my truck, I'd need to replace it with another truck. My top choices would be a gas GM 3500 or a 2018 Tundra.

If I replaced my car, "dream" car would be a GR86 or GR Corolla but more realistic/practical would be a used Toyota or Honda wagon or hatchback that's in good shape so we can do some family trips and I can haul some larger stuff without getting the truck out every time. Would have to have a manual transmission, of course.

The only thing the wife would be interested in replacing her Corolla with is another Corolla. I'd like to try to talk her into a wagon or hatchback if I don't get one for myself but she thinks they're ugly. She can also only drive automatic.

 

You haven't taught her to drive a manual? WTF man.

 

She has no interest in learning and I have no interest in replacing the clutch in my car. But if you want to come over and babysit a few nights, we can give it a shot.

 

At least tell me she can change a tire.

 

I drove a rental 2021 V6 Tacoma for 8 months waiting for cat parts.
It was like a go-cart with a lawnmower engine in it.
Even my wife made fun of the engine.

Didn't care for it at all.

As to the OP:
If I was to sell my 2014 Tundra, I'd probably buy a 2020 or 2021 Tundra.
But I have no intention of getting rid of my 2014..

 

the only reason I see myself selling mine is when my family would need cash in an emergency situation (main reason I sold my Armada several years ago). And in that situation, I would be forced to sell the beloved tundra and probably get a camry or corolla just to get by until the crisis passes. Otherwise, I plan to keep my tundra for 20+ years and thats why I undercoat my tundra every year so hopefully it will last that long.

 

I am pondering the same thing. Drove the wife's RX350 2600 miles about a month ago on a trip that I wasn't towing anything. Was so smooth on the road and got fantastic mileage compared to the Tundra, especially at 85 mph across Montana.

 

Agree on more mods .. check out meso-customs map and dome lights, get a new ajt fob, perhaps some new shocks ect ..

Just had some protective film over radio screen and gauge cluster along with finishing tint on sunroof glass by a qualified pro .. little things really make a huge difference to me.

I can't think of any other vehicle as comfortable for road trips of any distance. Still shudder thinking back of previous 3 hour road trips to Vegas in a Tacoma or multiple sedans ..sucked.

Next on list is touch up paint on multiple 'niks and get paint job sealed/waxed.

 

If nothing else, if you wish to sell it, since you have so much interest, raise the price!

 

Back in the fall of 2020, my wife came home one day and told me to buy a truck. She knew I always wanted one (up to that day I had driven an Accord for 30 years). So I bought a 2021 CrewMax. Absolutely luv'd driving that thing up and down the interstate. Did not need a truck, but did haul two things with it. One was a headboard off Craigslist that probably would have fit out the back of our CR-V, the other other item was a queen size mattress. Sure that saved me $75 delivery charge, but then I had to do all the work, loading, unloading, lugging it up the stairs..that $75 savings came at a price. After about 6 months, I pretty much got tired of the "effort" involved in owning and driving it. Always in the way on the driveway, very hard to wash (sloped driveway did not help), parking was always a challenge, the poor MPG was on constant display (and gas was only about $2 back then), and then the fear of the Cats being stolen. A few months later made a deal for a new CR-V for my wife. I took over driving her 2017 CR-V. I know this is Tundra forum, but for my lifestyle, it is a much better vehicle (even better than the Accord I had before the Tundra). I can easily haul the stuff I need to (golfing, fishing, etc), easy to drive and park, no concerns about trying to maximize MPG, and frankly probably more reliable than Tundra. Less concern about it being stolen or vandalized. It is big enough for our family of four to take a shortish road tip..say 4-5 hours. Any cross-country trip we would fly even if we owned a larger vehicle. It is almost the perfect vehicle for my current lifestyle. But then, I really got the "car fever" out of my system back in college when I owned 5 Corvettes, a 67 Firebird, Impala SS, El Camino 396 SS, etc. No longer look for any life validation from a vehicle.

Didn't want to part with my Tundra, but wanted a smaller economy car for running around town and doing errands... so bought an FJ Cruiser. It's about 5 feet shorter than the Tundra, and a blast to drive. Now I have the best of both worlds, the Tundra for highways driving, and the FJ for around town.

In my town if you posted a 2017+ Tundra for under $35k that was that clean, the crowds would brawl in the streets kicking in your door to buy it.

 

Hiace Doublecab is my Plan B should my Tundra ever get totaled out. But that's probably not realistic as the wife says she and the kids won't ride in it due to a lack of sufficient safety features...

R those the “dark bronze” rims? Just curious cuz some photos they look darker than other photos. Wasnt sure if scs changed anything on the color


Also , i do enjoy my 21 and im sorta in same boat. Ive looked at some tacos and 4runners but not quite ready to switch over. Maybe wait and see what the next gen tacoma is like. I dont tow anything i just like the room and the v8. Would probably trade mine for one just like it in Cement color tho lol

The only vehicle I'd trade my tundra for is a low miles, excellent condition, mechanically near perfect Ford Excursion 4x4 turbodiesel + 20 grand in my pocket. My truck is worth way more than any excursion.

Other than that, me and my truck are going till either of us, or both of us, are in the ground.

I might sell mine and drive a company truck "ridgeline or tacoma". I don't need mine much but I am not sure I want to sell it yet. I have a GX460 with Eibach lift sitting in the garage I never drive. I love my Tundra but not sure for much longer.

 

Did you know I have all of that on my 1794 2020 Tundra from the factory? Minus the heated steering wheel
And sunroof(you can have it with a sunroof if you want).
