No benefit to installing a CAI on a Tundra, the stock system is already a CAI. You will not gain anything with a CAI other than it will be louder. You can gain some HP/Torque with an exhaust, @dirtydeeds systems actually make HP and dont lose low end like most catbacks.

You mean the active charcoal in the intake tube?

if you disconnect the battery, the truck should relearn what fuel it needs based on whatever change was made.

I don't know why removing that charcoal filter would cause his issues.

I don’t know anything that would cause his issue… but a reset might help assuming intake parameters have changed.

Only CAI I would consider for your Tundra is Stillen. The air intake temps will be ambient with that true CAI system pulling air from the front of the trucks grille.

    https://stillen.com/products/2014-2020-toyota-tundra-trupower-by-stillen-cold-air-intake

Do some CAI systems suck? Yes. Do a few actually improve performance? Yes. I have plenty of data logged hours from my Edge CTS3 before and after installing my Banks Ram Air on my D-Max. During some drives before the CAI, my air intake temps were 25*F hotter than ambient. So on a 92* day I could be reading 117*F cruising down the freeway. In town where the intake would get heat soaked…135+* was common.

Maybe double check the air box, filter, and all fittings / connections to make sure you don’t have a leak. If that doesn’t work double check / clean the MAF would be my next move.

Maybe air fuel ratio? When I removed the factory charcoal filter in my 2012 Tundra the battery was disconnected, so maybe that reset the ECU and my truck fired right up.

The charcoal filter allegedly reduces flow 10-25% from air flow testing. That’s quite a bit.
