Oct 28 update

We are exploring a new adventure offering for next year. We are gauging interest... VOTE IN THE POLL....

The new adventure offering will be called an "Overland Detachment". These groups would consist between 2-5 trucks. They will travel around Sedona during the event.

This adventure will focus on "overland" style camping with opportunities to drive trails and explore the area during the day. At the conclusion of the day, they will set up camp in a new location. The group will then come back to T2S base camp group on Friday.

Here is an example:
Tuesday: camp 1
Wednesday: camp 2
Thursday: camp 3
Friday: break camp 3, join the larger event for the remaining days


TLDR; New option to do overland expedition during T2S 2023; Tues-Fri; no more than 5 trucks per group; regroup at T2S base camp on Friday; focus on mobility and ease of camp setup and breakdown is highly recommended.

@Cruzer posted earlier this week, asking for the dates; super cool you’re able to post the dates this far in advance!

Oh! Final question: this year will it work to post everything on the Tundras 2 Sedona website?, so those of us that don’t do Meta (Insta, FB) don’t have to wait for updates over here?

I am specifically handling social media on the Tundras.com forum and website. We have other team members handling the Facebook group and Instagram.

The goal is to make announcements for the event across ALL platforms in a uniform matter.

 

Ok, will you all be using the “official” Tundras2Sedona website?

 

We will be making an effort to announce information about the event across Facebook, Instagram, Tundras forum and T2S website at the same time.

So if someone doesn't have Facebook or Instagram, they can check the Tundras forum or the T2S website.

We don't want anyone missing out on event information or announcements.

We had a few people from out of state show up for this event. They made the drive to the event a road trip and stopped off at various touristy spots.

That would be great if SHE can cuz that means I wouldn't have to wait to claim the prize....October is almost done and I'm still waiting on the set of (backordered) wheels I won from the last T2S

Lol! I’m super bummed you’ll not be able to participate into the weekend; once I found out I can go, I was most looking forward to taking the side romp cool kids trip with you. Miss you already, Homie!

 

Lots of ifs. If I can make it and if Keven sets up a T2S overland sign up, then I would be leading it from Tuesday through Thursday. Probably head out from T2S camp by Tuesday 10am-Noon and return Thursday afternoon. I'd leave early Friday morning - just like the other time when I had to shoot off to Vegas I really think this would be a fun way to hit most of the trails at T2S.

 

@Cruzer Just a heads up if you're planning that, they've banned camping in a lot of the area around sedona. There's some designated spots where it's still allowed otherwise you have to go a little further out. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1056221.pdf

 

I think my plan would work with this. Thinking the first night would be on Mingus Mountain, near Smiley Rock, and the second night would be near Greasy Spoon in one of the established camp sites.

 

I think I can make it for this, if it happens! Then I could lend a hand, if needed, to lead trail run(s) close to Sedona on Saturday and/or Friday afternoon(s).

3. Mingus Mountain
Camp at the entry to Smiley Rock
4. Smiley Rock
5. Powerline Road
Camp near Greasy Spoon
6. Greasy Spoon
7. Oak Creek Homestead
Head back to T2S camp

5 trucks max per detachment:

just a note Mingus was very over grown in April. looks like mostly SxSs use the trail these days
