Your wheel and tire package may differ from mine so you won’t get an exact height from me that is the same as your potential new height. I don’t have a way to measure from the top of the antenna to the ground without a second person but I will see if my wife is up to helping sometime next week when she isn’t working 12 hour shifts. Fort what it’s worth, I don’t park in my garage. My wife parks our fj in there and it is mildly lifted on bilstein 6112’s and 285/70/17 bfg’s like my tundra. It barely makes it, I had to take the hi lift jack off the roof rack to squeeze it in.
Here’s a few pics for those who asked for some. This was my first drive down some dirt roads the kit handles washboard and babyhead rocks like they’re nothing huge improvement over the trd offroad setup I am very pleased I won’t be doing any expeditions or hard wheeling in this truck for at least 10 years so this is perfect for me if you wanna go 100mph in the desert then maybe fox or king or something would be more suitable to you but that’s not my thing 11DFD263-A4E9-4507-9507-E72B282BD6D2.jpg

Now I have some perfectly good trd offroad shocks/struts and coils up for grabs. Axles too if you like to have spares in case you break one wheeling. Hit me up

SD your truck looks amazing! The lift looks incredible. Thanks so much for posting! I’m reaching out to my local dealerships to determine if it makes more sense to buy my parts from Sparks or BAM, or via the dealer for a less expensive install.

I have the Limited TRD-OR with the TRD Lift running stock rims & tires, still, change coming soon. Since my drive way is sloped, I measured in the garage from fin to ceiling and ceiling to floor.
    Fin-Ceiling= 32.5"
    Ceiling-Floor=112.5
    Truck sits at 80" tall.

@Maharisc..... perfect information, thank you. And based on the Toyota brochure you have Falken Wildpeak A/T's - 265/60/20, which according to the Falken website the tires are 32.5" tall, 10.2" wide and 58.2 lbs. The Platinum's come with the Yokohama Geolander X-CV 265/60/20 but are a little different (according to the Yokohama website: 32.6" 10.5" 37.5lbs). So based on the measurements I should be able to install the TRD lift kit and have almost an inch to spare. Which leaves me with the dilemma of tire purchase as I can't stand those "all weather Yokohama's". I have my mind set on the Nitto Recon Grapplers, if I stay with the factory size (265/60/20) I can definitely get the lift and it looks like the maximum tire size would be 285/60/20 (33.46"), giving me a smidgen of room to get in. Or.........I could skip the lift, save a bunch of money and get the LT285/65R20 (34.57") and just call it a day. Love the TRD look, but in reality, it's just for looks at this point of my life. Four wheel'n in the Colorado Rockies are no longer part of my life.

And then there's the suggestion by the Toyota parts department: get the ICON Stage 4 suspension system 2-3.5" and this will allow you to have multiple tire options to accommodate your garage opening limitation. Hmmmmmm.........brain now on overload, need to get the truck first.

Good info, great forum, I'll be posting once I get the truck and figure it out.

Trying to digest what you said there:

“The Toyota parts department is advising you to get the Icon Stage 4 setup…and not their own OEM lift?”

Not saying it’s right or wrong…just surprised.

@TexasTondra I do have the Falken Wildpeaks but they are the A/T3WA, with the A, the tread design is a little different, less aggressive, not sure on the dimensions as TireRack doesn't list all the specs. I looked at ICON stage 4, with it being adjustable may work out well for you and it will be an improvement to the stock ride.

4895950F-BD00-4834-B2B7-739E94527982.jpg Thanks for linking to this video Maharisc! Best overview of the kit I’ve seen. For 2500 this kit is an unbelievable value.

I measured the distance I have available between my fin and the top of the garage door. I have 5” clearance available riding on 285/65R20 w/TRD OR suspension, which I think will be plenty for the change to the TRD lift.

I’m not sure exactly how much increase from TRD OR suspension to the TRD 3” kit but I’m thinking a little less than 3”, hopefully I’m GTG

$2500? That's a steal if it comes with all they showed in the video.

Local dealerships will nearly always sing their own song about why you should get parts from them. Go with the better price, and as long as they're OEM stamped parts, you're good.

I visited my local dealership today, spoke with one of the service managers. Not the best talk but a start. Good news is he indicated they would install the TRD lift kit if it is Toyota OEM and I bring it.

Lots of concerning statements after that however like - we can’t warranty lift kits, - it opens us up for liability, - “ in our area we only have the one shop rate of $157.10.” I explained the TRD lift kit comes with a warranty, he said that’s only if factory installed (sigh). Requested they read the fine print.

Their accessory installation rate is 130, but —that’s only for mudflaps, tonneau covers etc. I wasn’t really impressed with this first meeting, I don’t appreciate it when people’s first reactions are fairly negative. I’ll be given a callback tomorrow after he learns more. Any suggestions or ways I could address this welcomed, but the best suggestion may be to inquire at other dealerships.

I'd find another dealership that's more interested in, you know, making money and customer service

It maybe cheaper to use Sparks... but has anyone sourced a Canadian dealer for the TRD lift?

They were VERY excited to do either kit and actually got on the phone with Toytec to see when the 3 Icon Stage 4 kits that they have on order would be sent. Gives me options and having a dealership excited and wanting to install has been a positive experience.

You will need something more robust than this kit- its just a spacer in the rear- worse than stock if running a heavy load

google bilstein 5100 failure... not something I would run ever again (broke 3 on my 07 tundra doing very very mild off-roading)

After some thought I'm struggling to understand how there was only a 3" gain at the fin. Supposedly the 3" lift only yields 2.6" in reality and if they went from Falken Wildpeak A/T 3W (265/60/20) with their published size of 32.52" inflated, to Nitto Recon Grappler (285/65/20) with their published size of 34.57" inflated, that's a gain of 2.05". So, 2.6" lift gain + 2.05 tire gain would put the Fin at 82.05". Yet it's claimed to be 81" at the Fin (based on them saying it was 78" when measured + the 3" gain with lift & tires). The math doesn't add up. Unless the tire gain of 2.05" is partially negated with the weight of the vehicle, maybe an inch? Just my thoughts to ponder / comment on.

This is crazy to hear. Any way around this, is the TRD lift kit’s rear suspension truly not an upgrade at all but just a spacer worse than stock? Any way to make a parts swap in the rear to replace the spacer with something else or change the shock or spring length?

what would you recommend instead, only other option I’ve been eyeing are the ICON stage 2, 3 etc. Nothing too major but would fit my needs. I’ve googled icon shock failure as well and definitely found some stories.[/QUOTE]

I’d really like to stick with the TRD lift. I like all it comes with for the money. Is the rear shock improved in any way over the stock TRD OR version? I can’t believe that it’s worse than stock. Does it reuse the stock spring? I’ve been seeing other rear spring offerings from ARB and Dobinsons. I wonder if using one of these might improve the TRD lift https://rogue-offroad.com/REAR-SPRINGS_c_4221.html

Can the TRD lift kit be installed on a Platinum as long as it doesn't have the AVS? Also, can you get a Platinum with the Heads Up Display, but No AVS? Thanks!

Two inches in increased tire diameter only raises the vehicle 1”……Ultimately, half of the diameter is from the center of the hub to the ground (which raises the stance) and the other half fills the wheel well (and doesn’t impact height of vehicle).

That's the advanced variable suspension, correct? The air suspension? If so, it is still an option. Happy to take a picture of my controls where the AVS controller would be, nothing there. But I may be misunderstanding AVS, but my truck definitely does not have the "adjustable air suspension".

I believe everything BUT AVS is standard on the capstone. Mine has everything but the AVS, including HUD with no options listed. Toyota makes it fairly difficult to keep track of...
