some say charcoal filter for emissions. I cut one open to see and it’s almost cotton/insulation like. Maybe mix of sound deadner/charcoal filter… idk. All I know is it’s just sitting at the bottom of the air box.

 

I think your right on the money with sound dampening after looking closer. Possibly a moisture catch as well if it's on the bottom?

Could be sound deadening and water catch. There is a small hole in the bottom. I wonder what the more impactful sound change is that material removal or the TRD filter. @ToyoBo did you try just the filter?

 

Received the bed step today after ordering a month and a half ago. Installed right away. Closes up super snug.

 

I didn’t. Right when I opened it I was like WTH is this an ripped it out lol.

 

I installed the “used” TRD Skid plate I got for $225. This was brand spanking new, and I had two spare bolts from my dad’s 2018 skid plate install, so I was able to install it without hitting the hardware store.

Install was a breeze compared to the earlier models as it comes with hooks and it hangs so you can easily put the bolts where they belong.

Very happy to lose the flimsy piece of fiber stuff that came with the TRD Sport.

 

These look awesome in the Pro, matches the red accents/stitching perfectly!

Nope… can’t see why it would.

 

Changed the engine oil at 1000 miles with Amsoil engine oil. Installed the fumoto valve for easier future oil changes.

Is it supposed to be that snug? The OEM I had on my Tacoma had at least a half inch space.

 

Where did you order the paint to match mustache? Looks mucho better

And was it a plastic or metal oil filter housing?

No clue if it's supposed to be. It's not making contact with the bumper. It's hard to tell from the pictures but there's barely any space.

Recently and finally got my truck. Today I started with the TRD OR sticker removal. Although I already knew it won’t be easy, I thought with a heat gun, a plastic edge scraper and a bit of GooGone it will be a piece of cake but dang I was wrong… took me about an hour to get one side off and cleaned…

Update: Realized that it’s almost easier without a heat gun because the adhesive doesn’t gunk. Also, changing your plastic blades frequently and “cut” the decal with a very flat angle helped to get the other side off, cleaned and polished in 30 minutes!

Not complaining, I prefer the clean look! What do you think?

I am not a fan of the grey sticker like you had. However I am a fan of the red sticker that comes on other color trucks. I think it matches with the tail light lol
