I was comparing tundra to ford's in general. But yes we have a bunch of F-150's that do work all day long and don't have any issues. The Tundras that the company owns are only used for light duty hauling. All the towing is done by F150, F250, and F350. The F150 tows our 11,000 lb rig from Cali to Texas to NY and back without any issues. I was skeptical of it at first but the Sr. Manager who does it has been doing this every other month w/out issue on his 2019 F150. He also manages the company's fleet of trucks.

Let me know when one of your hotshot F150s hauls 2700 lbs for a million miles.

AHAHAHAAHAH. My tundra only tows my boat. The F-150's we sell after 150-300k miles. The guys get new trucks all the time. The Sr level guys get new trucks sooner. The bottom end guys have to drive them longer.

I'm just saying you can't go wrong with a Ford. They make good trucks and can last a while. But just like everyone else on this forum, I own a Tundra and like it for family use. I've had 2 of them and they've always worked out well for me.

Or is used like an HD truck on a ranch for 100k miles with zero issues.
He brings up hotshotting heavy loads in the bed because that's how the first and second of the Tundras that went a million miles with no major issues were used.

ic. We have large dump trucks to haul heavy loads. The bed's of the work trucks are normally filled with tools and the guys use trailers to transport boom lifts, mini excavators, smaller cement rollers, portable generator lights etc. Just normal machines used at the construction sites.

Gotta ask why not a Ford i am sure you would get hell of a deal.
I have never had any problems with my Fords i just dont need a 3/4 truck and sorry diesel and def has gotten out of control i miss my 3/4 ton diesel but as an daily average truck use just not necessary. So when looking at half ton i went Tundra but if there was no tundra ford would be fine to me.

As a leader In a dealership group, you typically get the same employee incentives regardless of brand. Some better Then others for sure. Wasn’t a big enough deal for me to get a 150 over what I wanted especially when I can get A ford demo anytime

To the numerous comments about ford fleet vehicles, I couldn’t agree more. They are the better out of the big 3 in experience. Also just fyi, one of my shops is solely dedicated to fleet only. (Ford pro)

Doesn't toyota themselves say that the Tundra is not designed for work or to be used that way? (At least the 2022's are being presented that way)

I would not expect nor would I look at the Tundra as a serious work vehicle if the company itself says it did not build them to hold up to that kind of use.

It is a recreational vehicle as the manual says, a occasional hauler primarily designed for passenger use. I think if you keep it within those bounds it will turn out just fine for most people. I wouldn't compare it to a 3/4 ton or 1 Ton truck for usage totally different animals.

For sure and that’s who them market too is the family haulers, boat lovers, occasional home dyi etc…. Which is why I have owned 3 of them is just for that, now I have maxed them out by going well over payload etc… still with minor issues. (Sagging rear end when maxed) but for what it was created for, it’s perfect.

Now I have owned serval fords as well, two of them being powerstrokes (7.3 and 6.7). In my opinion by far best heavy duty set up and served us well for our at the time fifth wheel.

The 2/2.5 gen owner's manual says it's primarily a passenger vehicle and not intended for work. And yet two hot shotters put a million miles on their 2nd gens hauling and towing heavy loads all over the place.

If I was doing something that was within the capability of a halfton, the Tundra would be my first choice to at least look at. A GM would be second and a Ford would be third. YMMV.

I agree the 2.5 gen Tundra would be my first choice to look at if I needed a 1/2 ton... Actually the 2.5 gen Tundra would be the only 1/2 ton I would look at if I needed a 1/2 ton, I would only buy a 3/4 ton or 1 Ton from the big 3...I think their 1/2 tons are overpriced and underdeliver all the way around. The HD trucks they build much better in my experience with them.

My 4.6L 2WD 2015 got loaded down with sod, rocks, furniture, hardwood flooring, and I can’t even remember what all. I know I weighed that truck down with a lot more than it probably should have been, multiple times. Never mind all the rough Rocky Mountain roads I drove it on every summer.

It was driving like the day I bought it when I sold it to my father-in-law earlier this year with 150,000 miles on it. And I bet that truck isn’t halfway through its life.

My 2022 is rated for a lot more than the 2015 was; I can only hope its reliability is in the same ballpark.

These trucks will work if you need them to work—and they’ll still be worth something after you’ve done it, too.

This gentleman speaks the truth! You take care of your truck (30k intervals maintenance etc) it takes care of you. My current Tundra 5.7 has 127,000 on it, no issues whatsoever but it has had:

    transmission service
Front, rear and transfer case service
    Coolant exchange
    New Toyota plugs.
Higher cca interstate battery (mainly cause of stereo upgrade)

in return I continue to tow our 26’ tow hauler, boat etc with zero problems.

minus poopy mileage, but that’s another thread topic lol

Another fun item ford didn’t tell people about. Your functional and decorative fender vents are now rubber plugs.

Sorry to keep asking I just can't believe it.... Is it part of a black out or chrome delete package? Is there an F150 side badge somewhere else now?

They just redesigned those for the 21 or 22s I think, and I thought they looked good. Just look like exactly what they are now, a cheap piece of plastic

It's temporary, just to get trucks delivered. They will provide the actual vent when available. Still pretty silly.

It’s the standard fender badge on all new gens. They are vented and usually have the trim name.

    I hope it’s not perm.

it is better to have the truck than it be parked but I don’t have great confidence in ford delivering hundreds of thousands at a later date

Please educate me about current gen 4WD Expeditions with ControlTrac. Common/recurring problems be it body, mechanical or electrical. Reason I ask is this '19 Sequoia will hit 200k miles in about three years and having no interest in the '23 Sequoia (only 87 cu ft max cargo volume), a later model Expedition is on my radar. And according to https://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/expedition?engineconfig_id=102&bodytype_id=&submodel_id= Expedition will get apx 2-4mpg better than the 5.7l Sequoia https://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/sequoia?engineconfig_id=19&bodytype_id=&submodel_id=

You being in Utah is helpful since your customers operate in much the same terrain and weather conditions. Thanks for any info you can provide.

One more, is the PowerBoost electrical system looking robust? F150 PowerBoost is on the radar also.

Debating between keeping the raptor order or doing a platinum in avalanche with CCD. Anyone been in both?
