Slow gear change from 1st to 2nd on 2015 Tundra?

    When at 0 and you floor it, truck pops to 30 then basically feels like I pop into neutral until it gets to 40 and then it revs up again and moves!

    Dealership is saying its normal?!?!

    I drove other Tundras on the lot and yes the truck shifts at 30mph and then kicks it up again it @32mph...

    Getting Supercharger installed today. Want to see how much of a stink I should make if it does go away.

    So is anyone else experiencing this?

    Could be part of the programming in the ECUs to keep from "banging" too hard into 2nd and grenading the drive line. Could be traction control intervening as well. Turn it off and let us know what your "research" finds.

    I turned off the TC and it still happens. I could see it being normal if it happened on the Tundra that I drove but not at all with the one I rove...it was just like a normal switching of the gears....but with mine its a long delay before it starts to accurate again.

    That's all I can think of. I guess that you'll have to wait till after the install to find if it's still present.

    Can't say I've heard of it, but if the other trucks you drove are new and did a similar action, then maybe it's normal for that year. At the very least, you addressed it with the dealer so its documented if something comes up.

    Sean266....you're right it is documented and I know its all under warranty so I would think the dealership would like to find the issue just to get more work.
    But to be clear I drove 4 2015 models and none of them shifted into second gear like mine. Mine has a 2-3 second delay between shifting. Picking it up today with the supercharger installed. Hopefully its much better and it will shift into second gear like all the others but now with much more power!

    Warranty work is paid differently for techs I believe...

    You can always try a different Toyota dealer too.

    Does yours have a lift/bigger wheels/tires or anything? My truck never did that and when I changed wheels and tires it began to do that but only under certain situations(hard WOT pulls or slight upgrade in road) I assumed it's just the extra weight fighting the amount of torque/trac control. I had a Silverado and it did the same thing.

    Thats a good point. Tire / wheel weight can cause that it seems...my 2012 did with 35" Toyo O/C...those tires were heavy! I did the HT speedometer calibrator which helped a little. The tires /wheels I have now, dont weigh nearly as much and I dont have that issue.

    Thanks for input gents. Dealership should have a Dislaimer stating "if any modifications are made to wheels/tires then supercharger may make your truck slower then a stockTundra."
    That's right, a stock tundra with no supercharger installed.
    Yes believe it or not my truck is now slower then any Tundra sitting on the sales lot.
    Dealership can keep the truck and defend this scenario in court.

    Running an 8.7 second 0-60 with supercharger and 7.5 second without...

    This is 100% consumer fraud.

    My truck does do something similar from 1st to 2nd but it doesn't seem like a long shift. It's more like a lack of power for those 2-3 seconds and then it picks up again. I haven't tried yet with the nannies disabled.

    Mine had a lazy shift the first day, but nothing near what OP is describing. After 100 miles or so on the truck, it shifted fine.

    How are you turning off traction control? The button has several functions and the only way to completely disable TC is to hold it 3 seconds...twice...while being completely stopped...holding your pinky in the air...whilst blinking twice.

    No flash. But pulling the battery cable for a few minutes should reset all the computers (me thinks).

    Nope, only inquired... I think with my alternative routes, once I get a tuner, I won't be too far away from what a SC would've accomplished. Plus I have a lot of other goodies instead. :)

    Thanks to the sales rep for researching the solution.
    Turning off:
    Traction Control
    Stability Control
    Limited Slip Differential

    Service manager didn't know how to turn everything off and I sure didn't!!!

    Just picked up truck and turned everything off and it is like a rocket even with the larger tires and lift.
    5.4 second 0-60!

    I just figured out how to disable all the nannies completely last week by watching a youtube clip. Owner's manual is confusing as hell.

    Nannies don't like SC's or anything else beyond grandma or your nanny driving it. I turn them off and turn on Tow Haul if I want to haul ass. If you have tow haul option you get better shift points , ie : better torque band response. Good for smoking ECO poops.
    Side note: The "limited slip" has nothing to do with our differentials. Our diff's are open.
