Well i bought the warranty other day for 125k mileage coverage and person asked 'how many miles it has not..?' i said 171xx ..he said but the system says 17863 . I went back to vehicle in garage and YES YES.. this is technology that keeps these vehicle more n more pricey.. else for the driver like me: i am still annoyed that I cant back up all the way to wall without TUN applying the brakes for me with jerk.

I was 9 time TACO owner with another 09 TUNDRA just to keep for pleasure and camper.. now i got two and this 2022 TUN is way too bell-whistled.. and just cant get away from any of those unless we do all of those.. I went to pick some horse manure and I will reverse into poop while keeping the door open and look back... ''''TUNDRA YELLED at me.. CLOSE the door.'

Good luck on RAM. my buddy got one and that too 1500 and then lifted high enough and now stays home.. he is looking for TUNDRA now.. he says 'Man TUN is TUN'

I've owned multiple Rams, and you are describing the worst anecdotes, not reality. My Ram treated me well. I did have to replace my water pump around 90k miles, and replace a battery at 100k but she ran like a champ. The only reason I jumped was that I really liked the styling on the new Tundra, and as a former gear head, I like the idea of a more tunable engine attached to the same style suspension as the Ram. I won't be touching the tuning/parts any time soon, but I will do things eventually.
Plus my boss drives a Raptor around job sites like he stole it, and that truck will sell you on the potential behind a TTv6 lol

I'd love to agree. I think Rams looks great. I think the Cummins/Aisin combo is amazing. But the numbers don't lie. They usually have the most vehicles on the lots, they have the highest number of buybacks, and there are simply too many common issues to think that most people will generally have good luck over the kind of time frame that Toyota owners generally keep their vehicles. If you only keep trucks for 100k miles, then you and I are very different consumers with very different priorities.

I wanted a Power Wagon for a long time. Was about to pull the trigger. Opened an account at the Ram forum, and that cured me real quick. I know people tend to complain more on a forum rather than opening an account just to say how problem-free their vehicle has been, and that can tend to paint a worse picture than reality. But it ain't that over at the Ram forum, lol.

I will be watching all manufacturers and paying very close attention to how their builds from early 2021 and on hold up over time. I'd love another option for a truck that is hassle free over the long term. When I bought my truck (Sept '20), it was pretty apparent that my only option in the segment was Toyota.

 

All of this. Not only did I own a Ram (2002 1500) but I used to help admin a Dodge Ram forum way the heck back in the day. Granted, that was literally almost 2 decades ago or so, up till about 2008, but once you've seen *THAT* many issues it's hard to change. I get that they're vastly superior nowadays to what they used to be, but even still, I've got friends on those forums...and there are *FAR* more complaints about reliability and the like on the Ram forums than there are on any Toyota forum.

 

I was feeling too crammed into 3G TACos and since i already own 08 TUN since last 4 yrs so i was ok to let the TACO go and move to two tundras one for outdoor and one for commuting.. I am not good at researching and testing and thats why i always stayed with Toyotas.

 

Why would you need a truck for commuting?

 

Good point. just somehow I go between farm , mountains and in between little commuting , once truck is always front yard ornament with camper on it , other truck atleast can do farming loads and all around. I will not commute on a V8 engine.. they are gassy.. V6 TUN is lot better option for that i feel.

 

1. Because I can.
2. My one-way drive to work is something like 15 miles.
3. I routinely use my truck for work as part of my job.

 

Corolla is a better option for commuting, in my opinion.

 

many people use tacos for commuting. many reasons why. i can give you a personal reason as my FIL has used one for 30+ years commuting to his vet hospitals - his reason, convenience. you never know when you might need the bed and its better on fuel, easier to maneuver and park than his 2500 denali.

 

I used to commute with the truck when it was 5 miles one way. Now that it's about 30 miles, I decided I'd rather put those miles on my car.

If I need a truck at work, I drive a company pool vehicle.

 

It was always nice to go to office in my green VW Beetle but then i have habit of stop by at home depot on the way home and then it was like 'forget it, truck is commute'

 

Cars have put me on the side of the road with more winter flats than I care to deal with and are a pain in the ass in fresh deep snow or unplowed side streets that exist here 5 months a year. SUVs aren’t any better for gas unless I get a smaller one that suits no other need for me. So yes, I commute in a truck and appreciate a vehicle that can do it so well as 70% of my driving is commuting.
