I change my own oil in my truck, and always used Mobil 1 Extended Performance. I went to Walmart yesterday, and noticed they have a new choice for Truck & SUV. Have anyone used this oil yet? I’m trying to figure why it cost $38.99 vs the EP at $28.99.

Look at the ingredients. Chances are they're identical with minor tweaks, if any.

    Gotta love marketing.

Lol. I love all the advertising gimmicks. The EP is triple action plus yet the truck one, more expensive, is only triple action. This is why I run whatever is on sale. If an engine is going to fail, it’s going to fail. I don’t care what oil you use. Just do regular maintenance and dot treat it like you stole it.

I've noticed in the last 3 weeks, prices have increase $2-3 per 5L container on Amazon, I order JIT for my needs and all of a sudden, up it goes....I rarely find what I need at my local austin wallymart anymore so amazon i go....

EP would be my choice and I'd change before 10k anyway

Inflation is motherfuker. I ordered oil for my rear end and wallymart was the cheapest. The kicker is that it was shipped from Advance Auto Parts and their price was $3 more at the store. I have also been finding cheaper prices outside of Amazon and also notice Amazon has less items for 2 day delivery than before, even if it’s prime.

I’ve used both the the Truck and SUV and EP formulations and found very little difference between them. Strange that the truck and suv is more expensive. It was priced between AFE and EP when I used it.

Compared to the Advanced Fuel Economy formulation (green label) they both quieted the motor a little more and didn’t appear to grumble as much past 5k mile OCI’s . I know most say you can’t tell when the oil is deteriorating but I usually can; the Vvti system seems to behave slightly differently.

Between the three I would use EP - but not for 20k miles.

Marketing. It's amazing what naïve shoppers will gravitate to.

Put the right grade of oil in and send her.

EP $10 cheaper and 10k more miles, no brainer.
Not that I'd run it for 20k miles.

I have used the Truck & SUV the last 2 oil changes. It can be had on Walmart.com for about the same price as the extended performance. I generally have enough on hand for 2 oil changes and buy it when its @ a good price point. No complaints with this oil but I also change my oil around 3000 mile intervals. I know some think this to be a waste but my OCD is satisfied.

Easy, if you want to run 10k miles or less, use the Truck & SUV oil or even the regular Mobil 1. If you want to go over 10k miles on your oil change, use the Extended Performance. It's up to the task.

I just use normal Mobil 1 since I don't do extended oil change intervals.

Always think it’s better to replace with a quality oil, going down rabbit holes determining which oil to use…

If you gonna change it every 5K ish, it doesn't really matter.
I recently switched to the Kirkland full synthetic oil. So far so good and good price when on sale.

I used the truck and SUV stuff on my last change as the price was similar and I'm not making it even 10,000 before the 12 month OCI. It says it is meant for hard working trucks and I want my truck to be hard working.

My engine isn't knocking so I guess it's good ?

Whatever this forum told me to do
or...your truck may absorb an incorrect amount & turn into an SUV.

    be careful.
