Picked up my 22 Pro on Friday, the JBL audio sounds great accept for the sub/bass.
Coming from a 2017 Tacoma with JBL, it's sub/bass was noticeably better.
Am I missing something? Anyone experiencing the same?

I've got the bass cranked all the way up, treble at 25% and mids at 40%.

It's a shame how lacking the lows are with how good everything else in the system sounds.

Honestly the front lower door speakers seem like they're producing about as much bass as the sub behind the rear seat...

Its awful and I cant seem to find anyone on here that has added just a sub and amp and where they put it and how much better did it improve. I am considering adding a JL amp and Sub maybe in the same spot as the factory sub just take out all the plastic and sub and put a box there. I did that on a previous Tundra 2012 and it made a world of difference.

Taco Tunes did a complete over haul on the Tundra's audio system.

Good watch even just for location and wire routing ideas

Awesome thanks I checked it out looks sweet but no price or specifics but i think after seeing that I could def put a box back there and a amp under my seat or maybe even right back there with it. Their prices don't seem to bad though on the older Tundras . Im def going to give them a call see what they could do for me. Weigh my options of doing myself or using what they have to offer .

I built a sub box that inserts under the rear seat and (slightly) enters the storage area under the seat. I did not have time to post when I installed it a month ago…but should today. Running a 10” Kicker sub and Kicker amp at 400 watts, with a 1 ohm load. Yes, it really makes a difference.

Yeah even ordering a mount for the amp and a sub box might be a good idea. Add your own components

Would love to see some photos.

Did you add this to a JBL system or a 9 Speaker system?

I don't think ********* has a solution for a JBL replacement quite yet. They are only offering replacement for the standard stereos. FYI, the JBL setup places the amp under the drivers' seat. There are grommets to get wiring in/out of the cab there. Could be a convenient place for an aftermarket amp if upgrading your standard stereo.

its a combination of the JBL subs sucking and also the tuning, they put way too much bass through the front doors instead of where it belongs which is out the sub. those shitty plastic enclosures cant take any real SPL.

if you want real bass, you have to add aftermarket power and sub

It's just amazingly weak how they have it set up. I know that sub is capable of more, but there's no way to turn it up.
If you fade all the sound to the rear, there's almost no bass at all. Makes no sense.

Because of the noted shit customer service that they've given members over the years...
They first offered 'kits' that consisted of cheap rebranded BOSS audio products.
There are a few threads about them in the forum.

The ONLY thing I would purchase from them is their door speaker adapters, they are very well made.

it never did, my entire JBL system is laying in a pile in the basement until I get the call about the 2023 I may get.

when I get that, it mod time again.

I will say, the new gen is better than the old one but still blows as far as quality sound like I have now

I have a 22 Platinum with JBL and it works great. It has enough bass and overall quality that it doesn’t even cross my mind to ?upgrade? or replace. I also wasn’t looking for a competition type stereo or to have the next block over hear the bass.

it's great your happy with yours (not being a smart ass either), but I wasn't really talking about competition or block away bass. High quality does not have to mean extreme volume or SPLs

if you sat in your truck with your favorite song and then in mine you would see how much difference there is, its a lot.

the 22 stock I tested was better than the old gen stock though.

I replaced my stock sub with a 8" powered sub from Rockford Fosgate and a LC2i audio controller in my 2021 and it gave me the base I was missing. It is not crazy, just fills out the sound

yeah I thought this was a 3rd gen topic, since it’s revamped from older generations that weren’t so good.

it is a 3rd gen topic, but as far as the JBL compro, they (gen 2 and 3 ) are both lacking, the gen 3 is just lacking a little less, HA:bananadead:

a small change like that can make a huge difference, you get actual bass out of the sub that way.

I did with the Kia Spectra I drove in college. Added an Infinity Basslink 10" powered sub and a new head unit (nothing fancy). Made a world of a difference. I plan to do the same to my SR5 with non JBL

Got a couple quotes today. Looking at around $1100 for a thin 10" in a sealed box with new amp and converter for the head unit.
Gotta do it, but irritated a $70k truck basically doesn't come with a sub.

Pulled off the kick panel at the factory sub. It's not even in a sealed enclosure... just a shitty 10" "woofer" hanging out in the open air. The front door speakers literally put out more bass than the rear "sub". Swung by the dealership to confirm, all factory JBL trucks sound like this.

To be fair, the rest of the system and it’s sound is fantastic. Extremely clean, clear sound. The sub is the only problem.

I had the opposite issue with my Pro - the sub was way too strong, even though I like bass. I stream music from my phone via AA, so trying to adjust bass in your phone's music app or equalizer in its settings should help.

I have to agree the sub sucks, but the front speakers play much more bass than I want so I never get to really test the sub.

IDK if I just got lucky or what, but it was rattling my mirror lenses and shaking stuff up like the sub in my Jeep does. I'm pretty happy with the JBL system.
