So, funny EPA story. I happen to work at a place in DC that shares a large parking garage with EPA headquarters. The entire building has 2, I say again, 2 EV parking spots specifically for EPA. They’re 2 cars are rarely plugged in, but still blocking said spots. My co-worker commutes in a Kia plug in hybrid, building people told him today that he can’t plug into the 110v outlet he found. So much for EV’s and DC.

How long can you go without driving your Tundra? There are some that have waited up to 11 months for new convertors.

My co-worker didn't want to wait and got aftermarkets that got stolen the next day

I'd only have to go a few days, no emissions here so I'd just need someone to weld in straight pipes where they used to be while I wait for replacements. I have 2 cars so I won't be stranded. I work from home too, truck is not at all required for my job.

If a thief really wants something they are going to get it. The shield is a deterrent. It would be easier for them to steal your truck than to to cut the shield off and cut the CAT out in a timely quiet manor. The shield is there to show them that their target will be much slower to acquire than the next car on the street.

Same in the base I used to work. Folks with plug-in vehicles were not allowed to use the base's power for charging. Gov't vehicles only. Security Forces stated they'll be charged with theft.

As they should be! Pay for your own damn fuel to get to work, regardless of what that fuel is! EV drivers should already be charged with tax evasion for failure to pay fuel surcharges to cover roadway builds/repairs. I swear, EV drivers feel more entitled than the damn cyclists!

On edit: kindly note most of this post is a joke. It does strike me odd that some (many?) EV owners seem to believe electricity should be free to them.

Here’s a doozie for you…..The protected guys are the car manufactures themselves hand in hand with EPA?

Think about it, who benefits the most?
The car manufactures get to sell you Cats for $4-8k, keep your car off the market, drive up demand even higher for both used and new cars, mark up cars over msrp, reduce allocation as excuses for chips, cats, etc

It’s time we start looking at corporations as the culprits, even toyota. If you follow the money theory, all of it points back at their direction.

I'm wondering about the Valhalla shields, cats get really hot, do the shields trap heat under the floor? can it cause fires?

Oh nah, the cats get hot yes, but there's plenty of airflow, you might only notice a few degrees difference even in stop-and-go rush hour traffic. They're designed to easily withstand hours of idling for work trucks use, for example. They're fine.

Mine have been on for over a year. I have sat for 2+ hours idling in 100+ weather with no issues.

I just returned from a 2,500 mile fishing trip after putting my Valhalla shields on. No problem whatsoever.

Thanks guys, that's going to really help me decide on them, it was my main concern.
