Anyone else notice how bad the paint is on these trucks right off the dealership lot my 2020 cement was full of rust spots and industrial fallout even after a full detail the orange peel on the paint is unbelievable I just never noticed it till I did a full detail and look down the side of the truck at least they are consistent and every panel looks the same had a tough time getting rust spots out think I need a more aggressive clay bar anyone else have these issues I had a 2010 white truck and it had tons of lil rust spot in it too looked even worse on white

My 21 had a lot of contaminants in it. Orange peel too.

my 22 pro had thin paint and a few areas where it was missed and could see gray like it’s primer or the body plastic color. 22 had orange peel too.

I think it's a issue on all Toyotas I'd be afraid to try and wet sand and fix orange peel because like you said spots my not have much paint but cement with no wavy peel would look amazing

The metallurgy and paint of Toyota leave a lot to be desired, that is for sure.

Toyota paint has been sub par for a while. The last one I worked on, that was decent, was our 2008 Sequoia. Orange peel is not a Toyota issue, it's an issue across manufacturers. I had a friend who said the first thing he did with a new car was wet sand and polish it as soon as he brought it home. A more aggressive clay bar will not help with orange peel.

No the clay bar is to help with the rail dust/industrial fallout truck has bunch of tiny rust specks most I took care of my regular clay helped but on some bigger spots after alot of back and forth with the clay were still visible I understand to fix orange peel ya need to wet sand and polish but im sure the paint is thin I'm going to live with the orange peel rather than take paint/clear coat off

Have you tried a product like Iron-X or similar as part of your decontamination process? That will break down the rail dust and other iron deposits, and is preferable to trying to remove them with a clay bar.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. How do you determine if paint is soft?

I will always do a test spot to see what I'm working with. Least aggressive pad/product combo possible. Brian from Apex Detail can do a better job than me explaining it:
