looks like toyota changed the duration of some of the trial periods for the connected sevices. i vaguely remember the remote connect was only 6 months trial. someone correct me if i am wrong.

Looks same for my 2022. I picked up my truck 2/5. 1 year trial for remote connect and drive connect. My AT&T hotspot expired exactly 30 days after.

Can you still use the key fob to remote start the truck when the Remote Connect subscription expires?

…now that’s the question (and the hope we have that it can still be done :fingerscrossed:).

Not sure anyone has had their truck for a year as yet but it’s coming up soon so we will find out.

    Yes.
Press the LOCK button 3x times, and hold for remote start "the old fashion way."

I just cancelled my subscriptions since I don't care for any of the features.
To my surprise navigation is also a subscription based service now, apparently.
    Bad Toyota, bad.

Looks like they bumped up the remote connect to 3 years for the Canadians (unless its been prepaid?).

Bought mine 3/16/22 and it'll expire 3/16/23. Drive connect is the same.

lol i just use my old 7" garmin, works better than any oem nav system still to this day.

use glympse app to share my location with family when i go on long trips. mostly my mom so they can see where i am at when i get close to her house.

I just received an email, Toyota Canada is extending the ‘trial’ from 3 years to 10 years.

    Sept28 pressroom.toyota.com also has this:
"Up to 10-Year Trial Periods on Select 2023 Models Featuring New Generation Toyota Audio Multimedia as well as the 2022 Toyota Tundra*"

Q for those who might know:
To which "service"/option does the navigation belong?
(I don't care for any other connected services, but wondering if I can have just the nav portion enabled on its own)

It reads like ‘drive connect’ and ‘remote connect’ are not included, so no navigation, remote locked, etc.

Gotta pay to play now-a-days (everyone's doing it).

I'm just disappointed that NAV became a subscription service as well.
(thank G that remote start still works the "old fashioned Toyota way")

I hate to break it to ya but Toyota is going to monitor your truck whether you subscribe or not.

BMW is charging for all sorts of stuff that the car already comes with as a subscription. It’s the new future. People keep wanting more tech, usb chargers, 55” LED screens, etc. Problem is that now the manuf controls everything in the vehicle. Big corp sticking to us. Supposedly people have found how to activate BMW features for free. I don’t see that happening for Toyota.

As far as the Navy issue goes you can always connect your phone via car play or android auto and use a supported nav app from your phone

Speaking of which, is there any way to disable whatever electronics/module that "talks back to them"?

Everyone on here worried about their vehicle being tracked likely has their personal wire tap...I mean cell phone...in their pocket the whole time.

Not to sound like too big of a nut lol but they (any number of corporations) are 100% tracking you nearly all the time.

For anyone interested look up what Tim Hortons just got busted doing to users of their app in Canada. Quick Google search will bring up a number of articles.

And if you don't have a cell phone good on you!

Awesome thank you. It has a drop down menu to select your vehicle and see the available packages.

The only thing I don't get it when it says "up to 10 year trial" like who decides how long you get?

My guess is that they intend on keeping it free, but are hedging against something like 4g becoming obsolete which would probably render it inoperable. Technology moves fast!

If I recall (read somewhere on here) that you basically need to opt out of everything at the dealership or by calling them…

…so that leaves you with just a radio on than lovely large screen of your but then if you have your cellphone as mentioned you are still being tracked (maybe not by Toyota…but you can bet Google and others are selling your data back to them)

Most of us have also already given them our fingerprints and facial scans too unfortunately…it’s only time before we find out how it’s gonna be used against us :(
