Picked up my Capstone 2 days ago on October 5th. Just seeing if anyone else has these issues.

    1. Hood crooked.
    2. Rear window button reversed.
    3. Tailgate rattles like it's going to fall off.
    4. Rear view mirror is so dark it's unusable. I Always leave it in camera mode.
    5. Whining sound from speakers, like a faulty ground.

    Anything else?

    1) Get it adjusted.
    2) very odd
    3) common problem on all 3rd gens.
    4) I would leave in camera mode anyway.
    5) Sure it’s not coming from passenger seat?

Is it reversed, or is it just counterintuitive? I find it to be counterintuitive, but I doubt they wired it up backwards.

None of my Ford's have ever been as poorly put together as my Capstone. And Ford sets the bar pretty low

I originally thought my speakers were putting out some static/white noise under all the music. Turns out it was the fans on my seat cooling. Never had seat cooling before, was surprised at how loud the fans are for it.

The whining sound you are attributing to your speakers could actually be the electric motor running. Next time you hear it, check your RPM/oil pressure gauge to see if the engine is off.

Also, your rear window switch isn't reversed. I think Toyota's standard window switch is a push to lower and a pull to raise, which makes it a little counter-intuitive when the switch is on the roof.

Admittedly I never had a newer Ford recently. I've had numerous early 2000s ones and they were all solid.

Mine have all been solid as well, as were all of my Gen 2 Tundra's. It's just my 2022 Tundra that has more anomalies and "quirks" than I hoped it would.

First year, plus new trim, plus covid and nobody wanting to work is a recipe for quality issues in any manufacturing environment.

I F'n LOVE how before people were all "Oh, you don't like your job, then get a better one." So people quit and are trying to get better ones and all of a sudden, "No one wants to work anymore."

Can't win. Just be honest and say "Oh, you don't like you're job? Too bad. Society fucked you. Stay there so the rest of us can have comfortable lives at your expense."

My company had some assemblers and operators leave for a dollar or 2 more thinking they were hot shit. 6 months later 3 of them trying to come back. Manager said nope. Sets a bad precedent. He'd rather pay a loyal employee some overtime and save money on benefits and taxes of adding a new body.

    Fine. Here are some pictures.

I think they pick the back window button location out of a hat to determine the position of where it will be, on each generation. My 2010 was right lower knee, 2019 was left lower knee and now it's by the sunroof. I can adapt the ball and cup approach of where the button location will be, but in no way should you have to pull down to make the window go up, WTF? I'm thinking if pins 2 and 5 were swapped, would fix the problem. I will know when I add the remote start.

I will have the hood corrected.

I will investigate the whining sound in more detail.

Did anyone figure out what was loose in the tailgate?

The mirror is useless. BTW: Without a real rearview mirror there is no safe way to know when your back window is up or down. I know there are laughing at us.

    Thanks

Sounds like they were better off for not working for that manager. Companies should be loyal to their employees, not the other way around. How is somebody "hot shit" for wanting a better paying job and better quality of life? The company had an opportunity to counter offer. Probably would have saved a few from leaving, but they chose to let them go and save money by not backfilling the positions, and overworking the folks who stayed. Sounds like "nobody wants to work" should really be "nobody wants to pay"

My rear view mirror is just fine, I haven't had any complaints about it with my capstone other than the non camera functioning partition is rather small. Outside of that area there is fairly substantial distortion and discoloration if that is what OP is referring to. But doesn't effect my ability to check if rear window is up or down at all...

The sound that you hear may not be the tailgate. Your trucks back end sits real low and what you are hearing could be the bump stops bottoming out. Does your truck have air suspension? If it does I suggest that ou adjust the rear height.

Man Toyota's build quality has really gone to shit lately and please don't tell me its becuase "its year one they still have to work out all the kinks" BS remember Toyota still uses their Kaizen philosophy there's just no excuse to have gaps like that, also take a look at how many Tundra's they have sold through the year these issues should have been addressed by now

Good luck OP hopefully they haven't cut any corners on the mechanical side of things

Their "Kaizen philosophy" is nothing more than marketing at this point. Toyota is ran by accountants who only care about the bottom line, like every other manufacturer now. Proof is in the pudding

There's more to it than year one. If you look at all aspects of the consumer production industry, everything is suffering from poor quality control. It's related to labor shortages, production issues, supply chain issues, etc. If certain things weren't allowed to slip through, many quality brands simply wouldn't have a product to sell.

We are living in an economy that the world has never seen. We need to get used to (slightly) inferior products for some time.

I totally get it but how can you tell someone that they need to get "used to inferior" products after they just dropped almost $80k on a truck! I'd be so pissed
