Very new to suspension discussions and like a lot of other folks I'm mainly interested in leveling my truck while adding a much better on\off road experience (less plush) for my 18 Platinum. Looking at all the big players along with the TRD Pro suspension, would it be an accurate statement to make that a Fox Stage 1 is all I really need? Having trouble verifying what I need as there are so many options. My use is simple very rarely will the truck see off road and when it does it would be slow trails to reach a camp site more than likely.

Do people mainly buy upper and lower control arms and leafs etc for a more complete suspension solution? Reservoirs seem mainly for more racing than anything. Is my line of thinking sound? Thanks for any input that may be provided as all I'm seeking is a high quality solution to fit my needs.

    Thanks,

    Blind

I have king shocks, great handling off road on high speed adventures I’ve been on and the ride on road is smooth and comfortable. Honestly I didn’t need them, do you need new shocks? More than likely no like my case but if you have the money fuck it why not right?!, 2.0 shocks do not belong on a tundra, it’s too small for a heavy truck. Bilstein 6112’s for the front is a good price, or just save your money and buy any of the big name brands:King, Fox, ADS, Icon because they have 2.5” shocks front and rear.

How are your kings for everyday driving and highways? I'm really leaning towards these to replace my rough country struts

I’m running Icon 2.5’s front and rear. Amazing ride and handling!

Riding on the TRD PRO suspension. Have to say it's a great on-road ride. Have yet to try it hard off road, but the logging roads I've used have been a breeze. Best compliment is the wife tells me this is the best riding vehicle yet (and not proud to say this...there have been a lot of different vehicles in the garage). Riding on KO2's. If using the stock tires it would likely be even more plush (also have the TRD rear sway that adds a lot for on road driving).

@Berdine, I love them, best mod ever. It rides really smooth it makes me drive faster over potholes but there’s a limiting factor with my stock UCA but other than that I love them. You’re not bobbing around in the truck, the shocks take hits perfectly. I have had them over a year no problems

I’ve run Fox coilovers in 2.0, and 2.5. The Fox 2.0 coilover rides drastically better on road as it retains NVH isolators. Rebuildable, customizable(valving and spring), and the aluminum body looks great for years while running as cool as some steel bodied 2.5 shocks. Cons, stuck at 2” lift, special wrench and removal required for adjustment. Fox 2.5 shocks are awesome to wheel with, not the most pleasant on the street.

Thanks all for the input. When everyone in this thread is referring to their setups, does that mean simply coilovers for the Icons 2.5, Fox 2.0, Fox 2.5, & Kings? Or does that mean a whole lot of other accessories of the overall suspension. Trying to get the overall jest of it all. When people say the run Fox 2.0, do they mean just the coilover?

The OEM kit, you’ll need UCA’s if you’re gonna do 3”. I kept it how it was from king which is I think 2.5” lift in the front so it pretty much leveled the front with the rear

So are the Fox 2.0 smaller than the OEM SR5 shocks?

@CoryShap09 im not sure but no OEM shock is 2.5 like aftermarket shocks though so I believe it is 2.0

I was just trying to figure out how the 2.0 are too small for Tundras but the OEM are not. I’m new to the coil over game. I’ve only had 5100s.

Oem shocks are 1.95 diameter. So are bilstien 5100s so fox 2.0 are fine. Some people like bigger is better mentality. Saying the 2.0 are to small is dumbest statement i ever heard when oems are smaller and people run 5100s all day long.

The fox 2.0 get great reviews for handling.

Now with all that being said you can get bilstien 6112 for same l.price built and they are 2.6 diameter.

Thanks for clearing that up. I’ve been looking at Fox 2.0, Eibach Pro, and 6112. I’m still saving up so I got a little bit to decide.

Meh, buy what you can afford @CoryShap09, if i were I you I would wait and buy good quality shocks with a 2.5 body but then again it all depends on what you do, like how much weight you will plan on adding to the truck from mods.

The only off-roading I do is at my hunting camp which is 2 wheel drive accessible. No weight or armor on the truck and I pull a atv and bass boat with it.

My pavement pimp digs the 2.0’s. Much better than 5100’s.

Still happy with these? I am pretty set on them for the rear but am torn between the fox 2.0 or Bilstein 6112 for the fronts. Not looking for too much lift.

I am...almost 40k miles on them. I don’t know much about the 6112’s. I have the fox 2.0 rear shocks as well.

my impression on the 2.0 vs 2.5 debate is that it depends on your use. 2.0 should be fine for 99% of people, but the 2.5 adds more fluid. I would have thought that would be smoother, but it doesn't sound like that is the case based on the info in this thread.

The shop that installed mine adjusted them to compensate for the lean.

Was it a significant amount ? How much did the ship charge to install ?

Are the Fox 2.0 coilovers a dependable 2” lift right when delivered ?

want to avoid a driver lean (2020) -remove and adjust etc, what a drag to need to do that after you get them installed.

..presume the spanner wrench is included and cannot be used to adjust whem installed and would jack the threads up

I’ll have some lightly used 2.0’s in a week or so available if you are in need. My trucks 2wd pavement princess, 7,500ish miles on them. They worked great for me, I have a set of TRD pros on their way back from Fox right now.
