it's a very aggressive stance, a little too aggressive for my taste

If any could really take a solid comparable MPG measurement before and after the TRD lift, it would be really really appreciated. Thanks for all of the updates so far.

Would Toyota be able to install this but keep the Fox shocks from my pro on?

Technically yes. The kit is designed for 3”. So this kit with the Westcott Trd Pro Kit.

I think he's referring to installing the kit on a TRD Pro with the exception of swapping the Fox shocks for the Bilsteins included in the kit.

If I was to get a 3rd Gen, I'd consider this kit on a Platinum but with the TRD Pro shocks as well. Hopefully someone goes that route and shares the deets! :)

    UPDATE:
local dealership won't honor warranty on truck parts that may be affected by the TOYOTA ENGINEERED AND APPROVED parts that come with their own 3 year warranty. Talked to Toyota brand engagement rep and they explained each dealership kinda runs their own show. Crap in my opinion. Toyota USA did contact another dealership in my state and they have a great service manager. He is excited to put his best guy on their first TRD lift on the 22 tundra. He gave me a fair quote and agreed to come in under but if they go over he will eat it. He spent a good 20 mins talk with me and I feel really good about working with that dealership. They will honor the factory warranty for both the truck and the parts. I won't get flagged in the system for warranty denial which is what would have happened with my local dealership.

this will come at a cost for me personally but I am ok with it. This dealership is 2 hours away and I will need to give them 3 days to get it done. I expect a day and a half but I appreciate them asking for more time upfront and hopefully coming in under. This means I will have to take some time off work and be without my truck. Other options are to do a turn and burn, drop it off and rent a car, jam back home and rent a car again to pick it up. logistics. again, I am cool with this arrangement since it is my only option to retain warranty and get the job done well by a service department that is said to pay their guys well and value their employees. That means a lot in my world.

I took my tundra in yesterday to get a panel buffed which had some residue from transit wrap. While I was there I asked my service person about the TRD lift. She told me me “the lift is $2,200 and it takes 4 hours or roughly $600 to install”. I kind of smirked and confirmed that was for the 2022 tundra and she confirmed. I wish I could have gotten an email or something in writing for that price. Not that they would honor it I’m sure. But I sent her an email today asking for a quote and gave her the part number. Haven’t heard back yet but I’m sure she will come back with some $6-$7,000 quote…

i got a quote for 20 hrs. Initially they said it was 10 hours and me being an upfront person, I suggested it is a complete front suspension replacement, not the standard lift kit they assumed. I’m good with it. Rather not be pissed later when they come back and hit me higher because they didn’t have all the info yet. They are giving me service shop rate which is 88 vs 120 for normal shop rate. I appreciate that!

Is the warranty covered if it’s dealer installed?

I can install myself and just wondering if I would lose the warranty aspect if I did it.

From everything I have been told if its not installed by a dealer and Toyota certified techs then you have no warranty.

Is the shock height adjustable on the TRD suspension lift kit system, or is the kit always a fixed height. I’m wondering if the Bilsteins are adjustable like 5100s, or like ICONs so that the front and/or rear overall lift could be adjusted down to 2.5”, 2.0” etc.

I just heard back yesterday. She told me she talked with their master tech who said he was on board with the labor time even if I purchase somewhere else. She told me they couldn’t match the price “because the part is so new” whatever that means. But good of them to be happy to do the install work even if I purchase somewhere else. Looks like online the best price I have found with shipping to my location is ~$2,500. So would be about ~$3,800-$3,900 out the door with installation and tax…

you won’t get any sort of a realistic measurement of mpg- how you drive, where you drive, and what wheels and tires you put on will have big impacts on fuel economy. Search my threads- I bought my truck in Mobile, AL and drove it 13hrs to KC to get it lifted, then all the way to Idaho from there and tracked my mpg the whole way

I was initially a big fan of the Toyota Lift Kit, but my enthusiasm is waning somewhat. I really debated between the TRD kit and aftermarket for a very long time.

@havasubud pointed out that the kit, when installed after purchase by a Toyota dealer, that it only comes with a 1 year warranty. It only comes with the 3 year warranty when installed prior to purchase as a dealer option. I assume that's true as I have no reason to doubt what he's saying.

Between their poor (IMHO) decision of how they handled the sway bar to the fact that the front coilovers are non-adjustable...I'm glad I decided to go aftermarket. I don't mean to poo poo the kit. It's a very complete kit and is a great option for anyone who just wants a "1 stop shop" type of kit.

I know 90% people who bought it will be happy and, in the end, that's all that matters.

One of the things I'll be stealing from this kit (Assuming I can order the P/N separately) is the rear e-brake relocation bracket.

Yeah…I feel the same way (and like you I have been looking forward to it being released).

I honestly feel a bit misled on the 1 vs 3 year warranty timeline…thanks @havasubud for clearing that up. Might just have been my ignorance there.

I am going to wait around for a bit and see a few more examples and if any modifications (like a TRD Pro Bar and links, etc) can help the situation with the skid plate as i already invested in that and would like to keep it.

Also waiting to see more even installation prices and availability.

I tried to buy it at same time as purchase of vehicle but it was at a stop sale and couldn’t be sold by parts dept. I’m thinking aftermarket is the way to go

No, the front bumper doesn't need to be touch if you can convince them to leave the fog lights, saves them some time and you some money...

Interesting observation in this video: At 5:55 he starts talking about the new axles. He basically says there’s no difference between the stock red TRD OR axles and the ones in the kit except for maybe a longer boot. He also mentions that some of the other parts in the kit (front brake lines as an example) are the same as stock and they didn’t bother installing the new ones.

    :monocle:

I’m glad this video is from an independent shop and not a dealership. Nice to see an unbiased, 3rd party breakdown of the kit.

I just want to see the Trd lift kit axle and the red off-road axle side by side. I’m surprised they don’t release more details and compare it to different the trims they offer to talk up “how great this kit is” lol.

Love the BBS wheels on the TRD Pro. Even though I already have aftermarket wheels on the truck, I got them for a song ($99/ea) and would take them off in a heartbeat if I could find the BBS wheels at a decent price. Hoping I'll luck out one day and run across a set of take offs or catch them at a discounted price.

I've seen a few late model 5th Gen 4Rs rocking those wheels as well. I assume the owners are buying them from Toyota. Unless I'm wrong, those BBS wheels are only standard on the 22+ TRD Pro Tundras and Sequoias, correct?

Judging by the install video, I'm willing to bet the kit's UCAs are the same length as stock. If you watch later in the video when he goes over the setup of the front driver's side, he shows that the kit includes knuckle extensions. That also stood out to me. If your new UCA was longer or had a delta joint with a wider range of motion vs stock, why do you need knuckle extensions?

Seemed odd to me. This makes me think that they're the same length with either the same (or ever so slightly wider) range of motion compared to stock. Most aftermarket kits that have new UCAs have the new UCAs designed in such a way that the wider range of motion eliminates the need for extended knuckles, as I understand it. Case in point: Icon's delta joint they use in their tubular & billet UCAs.

The TRD kit's UCAs are lighter & much cooler looking vs stock since they're aluminum. So points in that category to the TRD kit.

    Yeah, it's quite interesting

Sorry, I haven't watched the video yet, but do you think it's just sort of a play of words and they really mean "Front Extended [Travel] Drive Shafts"?

Not working in either Toyota's marketing or engineering departments...you're guess is as good as mine. Seems like a plausible explanation though.

uhhh so my dealer just told me 20 hours of labor... theyre wanking me right?

Edit** Just read through the thread looks like about right actually. they want $3380 for install and have the kit for $2568.

I was thinking of DIYing the install as ive done so on my sequoia, but 20 hours of labor with a LIFT and as a professional... now im thinking twice.
