I wonder WTF I will do with a 31 in this case, if I'm going to dual 27's or maybe dual 35's...

dude.. dont need that overkill. run a 27. hook up permanent solar.. you'll be fine for anything that truck will do.

if i decide to run a second battery, it'll be a frame mounted 12v battery from a prius. small. light, and it can power aux lights.. which is all i'd use it for.

35's are smaller than 24's, even though the number is higher. They are the max size that fits in 3rd gen aux spot. Dual 35's is about a single 31, just way more expensive to go dual. But they are reasonably light.

I worry a little about the single 31 I have but it's been real nice to not stress about it while it sits (and sits, and sits).

my little 24f AGM is going on 12 years old and still shows no signs of quitting. its been in my tacoma, audi, and avalon. the avalon sits for weeks sometimes and it just fires right up.

tundras rocking a 27f AGM. no complaints yet.

Yeah, I'm keen on a 24 or 27 if it's a single. If going dual, I like 35's but a 24 lead acid with 35 agm via redarc is my Tacoma setup since I don't have a tune. I can see dual 24's but that seems a tad overkill, kind of nice to have the lower height so you can stack stuff on top of the aux battery. Since the '05 and '02 both have HKB's and get full alternator charge, I can stay full AGM. The 31 is really a monster. Though if I could get the weight nice and low I wouldn't mind it so much.

I may have to get that kit.

Are you planning to park your trucks in the garage? If so, I would go longer than 21' if you can. My garage is roughly 27'x27' and the extra space is nice.

Do the older trucks not have fuel pump driver mounted next to PS res and ABS squid?

While converting the shop, I now have some steel diamongLife pegboard MX sheets that are roughly 22x46 IIRC, steel in color. I have 4 total. In the new shop space, I really only have room for 2. Would you be interested in two? Can take pics if it sounds cool, or just look at their site. Had these for 10-15 years now, they're great. https://diamondlifegear.com/pegboard.htm (Granted, at $109/sheet, maybe it's just as smart to order your own...)

You can mount vertically in a column to conserve space, toss all your spools on them. Maybe in that bump-out at the rear of the garage? Or even on the gap between doors.

    This ^^^

That's one of my pet peeves about my house. With my front bumper virtually on the wall, I have about 6"-7" of space to squeeze behind the truck's bumper with the garage door closed. I'd kill to have an extra foot or two of depth in my garage. Hell, I'd love to have an extra 8ft so I could run a setup like @FirstGenVol but it ain't happening with 2 stories of house above it.

Always so generous. I’m contemplating pegboard for bicycle tools. I don’t need it for the FBC stuff other than banging the heat gun. Which is fine just sitting on the workbench given how much it’s used. And the bench has a small pegboard back anyway. I did a 4’x4’ ss pegboard in the old garage. It was mighty tall. I might stick to 4’ wide by 3’ tall next time. Or go wider even since the new workbench is 72”. But it’ll be harder to reach over the top.

wall stuff is secondary. I gave gladiator gearwall for up high storage (not really pictured on the floor plan but that’s where all the take off parts will live, stuff I’m storing long term to avoid throwing away but have no plans to ever use unless someone else wants something or I (gasp) sell one of these trucks.

that’s what the single bay side looked like before. It was a reasonable plan, stuff everything in that space. Another option is stuff a vehicle there and use the 2 car space for shop space. Which likely means pushing the fridge to the other side of the stairs.

it’s all totally empty now and I can move back in this afternoon, hence the questions

I was just doing a 4-pane. This is from 8-10 years ago after I installed, I was definitely making much better use of it up 'til recently than what you see here.

Yup, the Gladiator stuff is great. I use the gearwall strips for hanging tools in the garage. But also use it for hanging bike projects, criss-cross:

    upload_2022-10-5_10-6-10.jpg

But also used it to hang bins over the bench. I've got one of their diamond-plate wallhanging boxes in the garage to keep fluid and paint cans in as well.

I saw on Faysboo that someone is making and selling mounts like this for the Ridgeline too. Yours is better though, that's nice how you did the Switchpro vertically.

    https://www.firstgentundra.com/first-gen-tundra/p/13x35-aluminum-electronics-mounting-tray-above-brake-booster-location-nnens?fbclid=IwAR02cP5ee-qNcFfKTGnvP9584k1WhOTp6W03m-N4736aYZgvLaMlOUfTlOc

edit: Realized Dan linked the AC version. The DC version looks to be a little bigger.

Hmm, I could possibly make this work with my air compressor. The terminals would have to be on the airbox side.

If anyone plans on running this though, I highly recommend reinforcing the mounting points. The welds that hold down the ABS module down to the fender are not that strong and the weight of a battery when the truck is in motion could likely destroy them.

Is that what brake fluid is supposed to look like? About time I changed the grayish green stuff in mine. Just need to get some Russell speed bleeders.

So nobody wants to help me figure out my layout? :(

    Hah.

I'm going to get the gearwall up right now as a start. And figure out a spot for the tandem bike to hang from b/c I want it up high and off the floor, it's infrequently used due to the nature of having to coordinate two humans to ride it and it'll never get used without my involvement so there's no good reason to leave it on the floor the rest of the time. Also no hydralic brakes (cable disks) so even more reason to hang it upside down.

No, I'm tearing myself up wondering WTF to do. I have one chance to place up to 5 of the costco shelving units since I don't want to disassemble them and they are too bulky for me to carry on my own. I'm totally clueless about if I want to try to stuff 2 vehicles inside or just give up at 1 max.

Stairs are 15'6" from the west wall and about 8' from the east wall IIRC, maybe it was 10'? Crap, I'll go re-measure. So the minivan has to be the vehicle in the center, that or the '05 since they are the only short ones. Either of the other trucks would have to go elsewhere or on the outside edge.

I kinda like the single bay for bicycles really, and shelves work well on that side.

Mostly the question is which side of the stairs to put the fridge and where do I put the workbench and toolbox. Where they were when I moved in was mostly where the PO picked, not sure it's the best setup really, but having the workbench in front of the hvac wasn't too bad since it is easy to move out of the way.

I could also stuff 2 more shelves where the pegboard is in that corner. I can get some better photos if that helps.

I know exactly what I'm doing with the gearwall so doing that part might be the best next step.

I’m surprised you don’t have one of those stacked lazy Susan type shelving in the corner there to the left of the bench.

There are those shelves that raise and lower from the ceiling via cables and a motor which could help maximize space.

I guess I should post a photo of what it looks like right now.

The upper space is going to be as well utilized as I can get. One side is currently storing screens and long stuff (boards, poles, etc). The other side has bicycles. I might do double bicycle storage or I might move it to the opposite side. Then lights all along the center and the stairs mean it has to be clear in the center anyway.

The upper spots closer to the garage doors have good storage space and used to have some super crappy shelves which I tore out. That's the gearwall stuff I intend to do once I get done with this other bs.

Is the space above the florescent lighting available? Maybe have wall lights and desk/bench lighting mounted to the underside of a hutch? Is the section of the ceiling dropping down to hold one end of the florescent lights structural?
