Anyone been running mevotech UCA's for a while? Have the elders here judged them fairly?

Paging @Jack McCarthy and @artsr2002 to give you the bad news about Mevotech longevity... or lack thereof.

I will say, @Kings says he bought their UCA and said they were basically straight-up 100% SPC arms. He's been gone for a year though.

    @KNABORES had some input: https://www.tundras.com/threads/lower-ball-joints-part-numbers.97100/#post-2465711

I saw @Diablo169 had a pretty rotten opinion of them also.

Stay away from anything Mevotech. I haven’t bought their UCAs, but I bought their LCAs.

Complete junk. Bushings started to tear after two years and is the reason I had to toss out two perfectly new tires after two years because they wore down to the belts on their inner edge.

I don’t doubt they were trash but how many miles did you have on those tires? Alignment after? Regularly rotated or did you just let them fly until you realized the fronts were shot?

I wasn’t able to get it into alignment due to the torn bushings. Complete failure. I didn’t really notice the excessive wear until they were starting to wear off the tread pattern and by then it was too late. I did rotate my tires and noticed it at that point. Probably got about 4-5k miles out of rears rotated to the front before the belts started showing.

I merged into a left hand turn lane a little too soon and drove straight into a curb with the driver's tire. Wasn't super obvious in the dark :(

Of course the car's donut wasn't filled up so I had to do the walk of shame and carry it to a gas station. No one to blame but myself for that...

Garage layout? 72” workbench, rolling toolbox, 5 Costco shelves, full size fridge, cargo bike and a minivan, maybe a truck too?

My plans exactly. I'll hammer this one in and keep it as a spare to eliminate the donut, then pick up a junkyard steelie and new tire to put in service.

[IMG]01 Tacoma frame moved and the mr2 moved to storage. the 98 taco is with my parents stuff in their unit since they had the space for now. next move is getting the 07 frame swapped and that truck sold

What are you buying at Costco that you need 5 shelves worth? Or should I not ask? haha

Edit: I just realized you meant 5 shelves from Costco. Time for me to goto bed. I"m losing it.

The "little" FBC biz. I need a floorstanding wire rack too, only have a wall mount, doesn't hold 1/3 of my spools.

Good price but kind of tight in that spot already. I have some brackets for D & P sides, one planned for compressor, one for electronics and hopefully switchpros vertical, though maybe Aaron can do me something super clean and custom.

I was kinda thinking battery relocate opens up some nice room in the factory battery tray location for winch switch and power distribution plus gets the heavy battery lower.

im just trying to use as little space as possible for now. im not sure what the future holds for the engine bay right now. i dont think im going much further on this truck offroad wise.. the 95 tacoma is kinda taking that role.. and the 01 wreck came with so many goodies that it'll be a damn good truck

Still, gotta admit, the lonesome dove is the battery out there in the front corner. Not exactly where I'd prefer it to be, and we have heaps of space behind the cab compared to our AC bros, massive open gap on the passenger side frame just aft of the cab wall. I have a box but mounting it to the frame is a bit of fab skill, then doing an aux post for distribution and redoing the big 3 from there isn't super duper easy. It's on my list though.

you can always relocate it with that dual battery setup that company sells.. cant think of the name off the top of my head. but moves it to the passenger side behind the airbox. bit better for weight distribution. but eh.

I have ABS there, like my '05 Tacoma does as well. But compressor bracket fits on top of the ABS octopus so all is not lost. Only able to do one dual battery, in the '16 Tacoma. And I know you're allergic to 2nd/3rd gen Tacomas :p

Interesting, I may check that out, looks like it bumps over the power steering reservoir, that makes sense.
