Braking report, far exceeded my expectations. I can finally lock up my wheels on dry pavement. Towing cars tomorrow, we’ll see how it does. Rear disc conversion is next. But as of now, FAR better. Pedal feel also is same as before. No negatives to this one like the 14wa

I’d expect this from a once 3000 dollar upgrade from Toyota. With everything in ~900 into the front brakes.

Stoptech still sells the kit if you look around. Not cheap thugh

Your cost of $900 or that's what we can expect if we can find those parts? :drevil:

I just had to replace the hinges on mine. New ones work great. I made a system to suspend my topper from the ceiling of my garage. I used 1 inch webbing and found out that fiberglass toppers will cut through 1 inch webbing very quickly.
Leer toppers can survive a 5 foot fall, but some windows cannot.

    Ooof.

Buddy of mine used a 4-pulley system with two 2x6 to hoist his up. He cobbled it together, but it's solid. I'll hafta ask for pics. Kinda like the general concept of the ones for bikes:

Yup. I have since re-done it with two 2x4s and big eye bolts with ratchet straps on each corner. Far more secure than before. Need to figure out a better solution than ratchet straps, but so far so good.

Lol, catching up on all the things that haven't been addressed.

Best and easiest way to do would be the pulleys to lift but also run the line to the wall and install a 3:1 system with a sailboat cam cleat to the wall... quick and easy way to replace a winch and waaaay faster to raise and lower.

I jerry-rigged a way to make knockoff LP4s fit in the stock fog housing and look like they kinda should be there if you didn't know any better. Only requires drilling two holes, stock fogs can be put back in if needed.
Gonna post a thread on the process soon. Nothing crazy just wanted to show others exactly how to do it in case they want to try it themselves.

Are those fog lights aimed right? They look like they could blind oncoming traffic.

These will only be used in the same way you would use high beams. Im headed out west this winter and wanted something to help in the pitch black country roads/trails/snow conditions. These throw a lot of light so there's only so much aiming down you can do. But yeah, won't be running these just driving around town.

I know the phrase jury-rigged. I thought he was saying his friend Jerry had rigged it up, he just left out the "had".

Isn't it fascinating how context about the author helps when reading a post?

I read Rusty's post initially as jury-rigged in more layman's terms (like how couldn't care less is often written as could care less). Then shifty chimes in and I thought I had maybe misread it and he really did have a friend named Jerry who maybe I should even know about but presumably I wouldn't.

Or, more fascinating, that recent exchange with Dan where he told me not to go nuts when I proposed twin 35's instead of 27's for batteries. I scratched my head for a bit wondering if he knew that 35's are smaller than 24's which are smaller than 27's. I did not know 35's were the small ones a few years ago, I really think I bought it by mistake but wound up loving the compact size. So I was confused about him suggesting to stay small/light but advocating 27 over 35. Because I know of all people Dan does not make a mistake with parts/gear/tools/etc.

Forum reading skills definitely take some time to develop don't they? And there's always room for misinterpretation with written words.

I know much of what I write is difficult to read/digest/understand due to lack of proper context.

    Whut?

Yeah, I dunno, I'm probably just off today. I saw "Jerry" in caps and assumed it was a person. If it'd been lowercase I think it might've clicked. I see after searching the internet that jerry-rigged is a thing, but I'm thinking that's probably a bastardization of jury-rigged.

Definitely a bastardization but from what I've read, Rusty isn't high and tight with his Strunk and White. Always hated that book. My mom would be so disgusted if she were around to read me write this :)

I’ve always thought the phrase was jerry-rigged, which btw, is auto-capped by my phone’s spellcheck in any case, with Jerry being a pronoun, and would be naturally for @1stgenike’s post regardless as it was the first word of said post. FYI @shifty`. I had to edit the ‘J’ to lowercase this time around. Never heard it as jury-rigged, that I’ve ever been aware of anyways. Now I’ve gotta ask @daveeasa, what does high and tight with his Strunk and White mean? I could google it but your definition is most relevant. And yes, I totally agree that context and intention can easily be misunderstood thru text alone. Happens all the time.

Question for AC owners - my passenger rear door wont open from the inside, I'm wondering if there's some kinda child lock I don't know about and cant find before I start pulling door panels and stuff off

    Thanks in advance!

No child lock that I know of. You've probably got a broken rod clip inside the door from the interior handle.

Also, there is a little lever on the outside of the door where the front/rear doors meet. Make sure that little black lever is out all the way.

I'm gonna dig for pictures of it.

    @tokolosh this lever right here.
    20210411_201856.jpg

Make sure that is fully extended outwards. That's a mechanical release that disengaged the rear door handles when the front doors are shut.

You may just have to pull the door card off, and lubricate everything inside there. I had to do that on mine about 2 years ago.
