Lol, catching up on all the things that haven't been addressed.
i am curious as well, I have both gel coat and west system resin for my boats, but I cannot imagine this is what one would want to use on bed rails. I was thinking bed liner both to seal in the fiberglass and to give some grip to the bed rails... maybe something more like a flex-seal type rubber compound with less grit even, applying resin would (to my mind) just make it hard and slick and likely to crack or flake off after wear.

Maybe I am just not aware of the kind of resin?

Yes 70 at the moment of failure. Little to no throttle as I was coasting towards the exit.
    Storytime?
Okay. Just want to say here; knowing how to fall is a real thing, and will save yer neck. I know that my life of skateboarding, BMXing and riding dirtbikes (and all the falling and crashing involved) have all contributed to the instinct reactions that have saved my life on several occasions, including this one. Very grateful for that. Also grateful not to have been doin 95 in the fast lane at the time.
So...there I was.. back wheel suddenly locked up at 70 mph, and I'm skidding down the I-5 freeway. I immediately pull clutch, and nothing, screeching continues. Was able to keep it straight for a good 100 ft or so, til the ass end tried to start comin around. I corrected, and it whipped back the other way so hard, that I had to lay it down. At this point I'm guessing I had slowed to 30-40 mph?, from draggin back tire roughly 130 ft. or so (really wanted to go back and measure the skidmark before it faded away, but it being in the middle of the fwy, nope. It was there for several weeks tho and very close to home, so I got to see it daily until it was gone. I see skidmarks all the time, but to own one, and know what caused it curve the ways it did, it's kinda surreal). Anyways, as I laid it down, i was able to get my leg out from under it and land all my weight on top of the bike, in a frog type of a stance, and all slightly less graceful than you're probably imagining. The rooster tail of sparks it was throwing out, helped me to not get run over. Slid like that a bit, til it had slowed enough to bail and start fire-rolling towards the side, while watching for oncoming cars. Luckily for me, the sparks had caught one drivers attention and they blocked traffic. Bike was fukt, but I was alive. I got a small raspberry on one hand after burning thru my glove, and a small raspberry on my hip. That's it. Helmet never touched the ground. For reference, this happened only about 4 years ago.

Don't recall specifics, been years since I worked with the stuff. General auto parts selection or autobody supply store if you've got one.

I experienced that in 2001 while visiting in TX. Confused me when I first encountered it, felt like I was being set-up by a trooper.
But it was legit & it made me hate NY drivers all the more. :)
It was the same trip, returning through Atlanta I learned every street there is named Peach something or something Peach. Nuts.

When the NY State Thruway was new - my great aunt instructed her driver to turn around & go back after they missed the exit. Trooper gave her a ticket for that - perhaps one of the earliest tickets issued on The NYS Thruway. LOL. The limited access thing was a new concept.

I forgot about that having gone to GT. All I seem to remember is Spring St where The Cheetah was located.

Cheetah/Alluvia is a block(ish) away from where I worked, before we moved next to Centennial Olympic Park in 2018.

There's a running joke here that, if your street name has "peach" or better yet "peachtree" in it, your property value goes up 15%+.

It's really damn annoying to explain to guests ... "No, you want to be on Peachtree Street NE, not W Peachtree, Peachtree Place, Peachtree Circle ..." and that's not even including how driving up W Peachtree becomes Peachtree NE after 16th St, and whatnot.

It really is a mess. The entire city's street infra is pretty dicked up thanks to segregation. I would've never realized it had I not gotten stuck living here, but after 20 years now, I clearly see a lot of the east/west bottlenecks preventing traffic from going north/south, conveniently located on historical racial divides.

Anybody else a 'CHEMICAL GUYS' fan? They're ridiculously expensive, but top shelf quality. Get the VRP, and use it on everything that's vinyl, rubber, and plastic, and be amazed.

I’ve heard a lot of CG stuff is crap. Just a bunch of marketing to try to push it to the top or at least that’s what the ‘Ask a detailer’ thread says. I will give the VRP a try cause who doesn’t wanna fix their faded black plastics.

I'm sure there are better products out there but I've had good results with Chemical Guys products. I keep 3-4 on rotation.

Their Hex Logic hand pads are awesome for polishing out non-flat oxidized surfaces, like inside the firewall, under the back window, misc other nooks and crannies. I haven't tried a lot of their products, mostly because I'd heard the same, most of it is gimmick. But even the gimmick companies often hit it right with one or two things. Some of their staff videos are douchebaggy as hell, if you've never seen one.

Why YES, yes I am! I got into CG about 4 years ago and have been really happy with the results I have gotten. The VRB works fine, as well as most of their products I have used. There is a sales outlet over in Burbank, easy to get to for me. Yeah, love those products!

I did. It's a 4 stroke tho and nothing happened in the top end. Bought another complete bottom end from craylist, and a starter separately. Swapped it in and got 500'ish miles on it, then started having problems with the shifter being stuck in second. Parked it, and haven't given it the time to sort it out since, shamefully. Love that bike

Well, I left my old job and started a new one today. Huge weight off my shoulders and now I can focus on the future. Took a pay cut but it’s only temporary till I head back to school. Change can be a good thing! Hope all of you are enjoying your day!

Congrats. A number of us here had been talking about possibly doing similar. I remember @bmf4069 made the shift, so did @Tundra2 (twice!), but myself and a few others haven't made a leap. I'm still way too comfortable, but once again it's looking like the walls are closing in. Every 6-10 months, risk of layoff starts looming.

(I want the layoff, 23 years of severance would be niiiiiiiice!)

That would be damn nice! I'm still not getting paid what I'm worth, but I also don't have the time in the company yet. I've been here a year so maybe it's time to ask for another raise.

I'm starting a waste water treatment plant job here in a few weeks. One on the norside of town , one on the south, but they're counting them as one job.

Edit: did I show y'all the hangerdominium I'm doing for my bosses bosses boss(president of the company)?

It's a 2500 sqft house up top, 2500 sqft 4 car garage and workshop on bottom, then a 4500 sqft hanger. 70x100 building. Working on this has put the idea of me and the gf building a 60x50 barndo. I've already started pricing shit. I just need someone to wire it....

Our basement is all wired up. I'm happy I had 90% left in 250ft spools of both 14/2 and 12/2, I bought while doing the other side of the basement, when it was like $50/spool. Big box stores are getting close to $150/roll up here for that jazz.

I like this Barndo idea. My better-3/4 would like some more windows though.
