Aftermarket upper control arms 2 1/2” leveling coil overs
Hey guys I have an 01 tundra just redone the whole front suspension. Aftermarket upper control arms, 2 1/2” leveling coil overs, oem lower ball joints, new rack and pinion, new tie rods and new stock lower control arms. It just feels very unstable. When I turn left into my driveway it feels like it gives a little. And when I back out it makes a couple of popping noises. And I was driving on the highway going around a bend and it felt like the driver side tire was going to fold. The truck dipped on that side very heavily. Any help on what my problem could be would be much appreciated. Thank you!

You change too much hard to pin point the problem, check every nuts and bolts first, use a paint marker after you torque each of them

Since the truck 'dipped pretty heavily' i'm thinking sway bar links or bushings.

    didja keep your alignment sheet?

I guess the big question I'd ask here is:

Which brand and model of coilover/spring combo did you choose, and if adjustable, which circlip notch?

Did you also use any spacers with it?

Just trying to get an idea on how much height you're at, if you measured center of hub to edge of fender before/after that could be useful too.

I used the rough country 2 1/2 coil overs.
I just took the control arm off and the front bushing is tore. I’m at a loss to why they tore. I replaced them about a month ago

They aren’t adjustable. And no spacers

maybe you tighten them while truck is off ground, those bushing bolts need to tighten while truck is on flat ground. if you off road you need urethane bushing

I tightened them on the ground. And yes I go off road a lot. So I guess I better get some urethane bushings

Sounds like you might've found your noise. Poly bushings will add their own array of noises with squeaks, etc. poly-safe lube is your friend.

I haven't seen anyone w/Rough Country coilovers on a 1st gen, only their strut lifts. Which coilover kit is it, I've only seen their Vertex kit, it's for '07+ Tundras only? Or was it this kit? Jebus that's cheap! (and it's a strut)

Their strut lifts have spawned a couple of posts from people who wound up w/pretty significant damage to adjacent components, premature fatigue/catastrophic fail of things, strange noises and behavior, etc. This was a really fun one. Wouldn't recommend.

Got it. Be careful. This is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. And then you pay more, for what got damaged. I don't even want to know what that other guy had to pay after his Rough Country kit bent his stock stuff up.

Then again, seems like his kit wasn't correctly installed. Still, we Access Cab and Regular Cab guys have got to be careful though, especially the 2WD guys, we seem to get a good 1"+ more lift than advertised, and that puts you into that 3"+ area where you need to upgrade your UCA, sway links, boots to avoid f'ing shit up.

(Edit: I see you did your UCA already, though)

Oh - but to that point, did you install extended swaybar links? If not, are all the bushings alright?

And what brand are the UCA?

    Nice!

If one UCA bushing is already blown out and they were just replaced a month ago, you may want to reach out to SPC about that, it's not remotely normal. Their customer support is great.

There's no logical reason that bushing should be blown unless there's something else FUBAR'd. There are guys on here who ride hard with the SPC arms and I've seen lower strut bushings blow out, but not the UCA bushings.

It’s the lower control arm bushing that tore. They are stock bushings
