Decided to split the difference between what I'm used to (5k) vs what Toyota recommends (10k) so getting it done at about 7.5k. Nervous about others doing my service but figured it would be a waste to not take advantage of the two free ones offered by Toyota. Hope they know how to access the filter through my RCI skid and don't take the whole thing off. IMG_3242.jpg

You are a brave man to let the dealer service your brand new truck. I wouldnt let them touch mine with a 10 ft pole. And it isnt 2 free oil changes, its 2 opportunities for them to mess up your truck.

If you check their work its not so bad but definitely do it before you leave so they dont say you tampered with something.

Not to derail the thread but where did you get the marker lights from in your grille?

Got them off of Alibaba! Arrived in about a week and ran me around $40 and just mounted it with some JB Weld for plastic. Seems to be holding up pretty well and haven't run into the water issues like people have with the Rave ones. Love the builds btw! Looking to get a similar suspension setup once my wife forgets about all the money I've already put into the build

Nice I actually have the same ones from Alibaba and the rave ones. Haven't had a chance to throw the grille on yet but I'm leaning towards using the alibaba ones with the negative rave reviews.

Thanks though man! Truck is a whole new animal with the suspension.

Man I've never been a fan of the 22 body style until I saw yours. Looks beautiful all blacked out! Nicely done. And as far as dealers go it's really is a crap shoot. Some have decent techs, others not so much. I took mine in for my first few oil changes and they naturally broke some tabs and lost the screws on my stock flimsy skid plate, kind of irritating but not too bad. I think they'll be able to figure out the skid, you can always tell the service manager too that you have an aftermarket skid that has access to everything needed for the change and show them if need be.

if you actually read into the service interval listing in the owners manual (or service manual) it says 5k on certain conditions but 10k for normal use. if you take it into a dealer toyota usa will say the free oil changes are every 10k and tire rotation is a 5k up to 24k/2yrs.

after the free oil changes you are free to do oil changes at your discretion and the dealer wont care since its your money.

the dealer will do your free oil changes at whatever interval you want but you only will get 2 free oil changes since toyota usa will only let you do it at 10k and 20k per their rules (whichever comes first)

at least that what my local will only do.

I'm anal about the maintenance on mine and I dropped it off for it's 1st oil change and had no issues. Before I leave the parking lot though I crawl under it and look at everything, check the oil level and filter (I paint pen the filter to ensure it gets changed). I'll do it again for the 2nd oil change but after that I do all the maintenance. I also had to have a recall done for the rear axle torque and a software update and it looks like I'll be getting another software update when I do my next oil change there. Trust but verify is my motto...

    Stock....for now

Yup, I can attest to this. I wanted my oil done at 5K with the multipoint inspection and fluid top off. So instead of using one of my "Free" changes, I just had an oil change added and paid for it out of pocket. Plus they knocked out the parking brake software update while I was there.
