Just throw an access cab bed on it, and shorten the frame, drive shaft, fuel lines, brake lines, ya know... Nothing complicated.

The RC bob plan above is effectively my ‘05 Tacoma with a v8. Which would be the easier swap to do I think. And it’s not out of the question but I’d prefer EV since it’s light. That's the current track.

My alternate track thought was shortening The overall length 12" to 5’ bed and maybe a bed replacement. But a bob would make more sense than moving the axle forward because of departure angle gains. And that’s beyond my level of mod skill. Way beyond.

ETA: Well I guess not effectively, much better departure angle. But still, for a trail rig I'd start w RC Tacoma rather than RC FGT if I'm focused on approach/departure.

You have a used v12 you wish to retrofit in the Corolla? ;)

A rear wheel or 4wd Corolla with v12 would be kool.

Well others commented that it looks like his transfer case is dry as a bone and the u-joint hasn't been greased since it was new.

There's also 0 chance it grenaded the transfer case without some major vibration beforehand.

I'm gonna try to see if I can go to a junkyard tomorrow to look at two trucks.

    A 2000, and a 2002.

I keep forgetting to do Fuelly since you can’t pump your own gas in this state.

If you find any OEM tow harness stuff in good condition, I’d bite. Just to see how it’s all done and stuff.

also I owe you some harnesses once you give me a length buddy.

Alright, I hear you on the length. Just haven't had time, and the junkyard trip is a hair brained idea anyways. Not even sure I'm going yet.

I'll keep an eye out for you if I go.

If the OEM harnesses look in good shape, and you get that tow harness for Dave, I’d appreciate you grabbing the harness that leads up to the passenger tail light area. On my 2002, there are several harnesses attached to each other back there. But, I know, before I got the truck, a PO had added tow stuff— so although the connectors all look like OEM Toyota, how would I know? So if you buy and send that entire snarl to Dave, he can learn and keep what he wants, and maybe I can eventually get the segment that “fixes” my passenger blinker light….

If it works, lmk what I owe (and don’t divide shipping. Send it all to Dave and he and I will continue attempts to meet up). ;)

I'm definitely putting myself on the hook to help with your harness. And those chrome mirrors. 100% into that plan. Just slow boat to china right now without access to either while I wait for welding gussets. Seems rude to sweat my man the hard working Jason.

Happy Friday. We're getting some excellent fall weather here. It's normally still fairly hot this time of year. The last 7-10 days we've been able to leave the windows open and turn the air off.

    I learned two things today…

Don’t leave pot holders on top of your Breville Toaster Oven when you’re broiling because it stains the brushed metal at the high heat of 500F.

Simichrome is more useful than I thought. It took the stain right off.
