Nah, I was just thinking about stupid stuff to do to a 3rd vehicle and wondering out loud. None of it makes any actual sense.

The 6' bed is a nice size. I do prefer it to 5' on the '16.

Just thinking what it would look like, RC w 5' bed. How strange that might be.

Just tryna do everything possible to make up for the 'lack-of-a-2nd-diff' condition my truck was born with. Yeah you wanted to check the XRF LBJ's too and forgot. They're not goin anywhere with the million mile warranty, neither are the 35's. well maybe a different set, but not size. I had 35's on my last truck, and tried to go back to 285/70/17's (whatever that is, 32.8? Idk). Couldn't do it. I am already ready for another trip tho.

How bout the upcoming trend with E-cars and the exhaust sound kits... First time I read that, I didn't consider it was actually a real thing. Haven't seen one yet but I'm looking forward to it

Got word from some buddies of mine down there with line crews headed in that Service Electric lost a combo of 14 bucket trucks/ digger trucks. They were staged, waiting on the storm to pass and got swamped with storm surge up over the cabs.

This is gonna be a logistics nightmare. The electric co-op I work for has so many jobs on hold because we can’t get material. Transformers were on like a 52 week wait, poles were at least 35 weeks, and any new bucket trucks were over 720 days.

I’d only consider it if it made my future e-truck sound like a tractor trailer truck.

You can do that. It is programmable digital sound, so you should be able to make it sound as you wish. Might take some hacking, I'm sure initially the programmed sounds will be limited

Yowzers. So far, everyone is safe in my folks, from Gainesville down to Naples. Many w/o power. Naples family found out their power grid is somehow tied to a nearby hospital, lucky them. Didn't even lose power, while everyone else within a half mile is out. Go figure?

Still waiting to hear about my friends' parents place. They're in west Toronto right now, they've got a 2nd floor beachside condo about halfway up Longboat Key. I did catch wind (no pun intended) that the bridges to Sanibel Island and Pine Island got demolished and people were having issues with it. Curious how the bridges by Coquina beach, Anna Maria and others fared.

Hey! He Turned it into a Bronco! WOW! :bananadance:

My family didn't have any damage either. Mom didn't even lose power but my brother a mile down the road is still without power. Apparently DeSantis gave all the first responders money to buy a generator though. Since he's a firefighter he got one.

i'm not a fan of my shortbed ranger. Too small for my dog. He rides in the back of the tundra and titan fine, never tries to jump, but he hops out of the ranger without a 2nd thought. Wheelbases that short are more nervous at speed. My bigger problem is a hard shifting trans, and the 3.slow vulcan.

i like to see fake tits, but wouldnt wanna be with fake tits, nah mean? But fml if i wouldn't put up with all the finicky bs to be with this.

If you have a running car, you have a generator. I ran a 1000w inverter and a home stereo in my 1st gf's hyuandai accent. Ran coffepots and everything. If i need 10kw i'm gonna get a 25kw and share. The simple math running bare bones i can get away with 5kw. Cause i'm on a well, and all my appliances are electric.

gotta be diesel though, i dont have a lp or ng tank, and new gasoline sucks.

The goal is a dieselgate or older vw with a manual that can idle in 3rd @ 25kw. Get it into test mode and let it sip.

I'm on the east coast of Florida. We got a lot of rain and winds up around 50-60mph. West coast got obliterated. 6 weeks ago the wife and I along with her best friend and husband spent a week in ft Myers beach and spent a day in Sanibel island, it's really sad to see what this hurricane did to the area. The bridge to Sanibel is gone, all the bars and restaurants in ft Myers beach are gone. We were watching the news in disbelief, it's been a long time since we have seen a hurricane do this much damage here in Florida.

Funny how a few of us here were talking about the pros/cons of Florida and 1 of the negative remarks was high property tax. We didn't even touch on the insane home owners insurance situation. You need 3 different kinds of insurance, the traditional home owners insurance, wind insurance and flood insurance. At the moment, many insurers have pulled out of the state, the few that remain are struggling to hold on and some will not write new policies. Now I have no clue how this will play out, the amount of money they will have to pay out is astronomical and will most likely bankrupt a few

As if it wasn't bad enough. We're having a hard time bidding jobs due to switchgear being over a year out. Square D, CH, Siemens, doesn't matter. All about 60 weeks out.

... and it's only going to get worse.

I'd mentioned a couple of days ago about how craptastic renters/homeowners insurance is in FL. I was easily paying 2x-3x more there than here in Atlanta. And yup, you need all the added crazy coverage if you're within X# miles from the coast and/or water (I forget, laws might've changed also).

I'll go back to visit. No way in hell I'll live there again. It seems like the levels of stupidity (not just crazy, more like crazy-stupid) in the population are off the charts. At in the crazy-stupid weather that's just getting crazy-stupider, and ... I may only need to drive an hour to Augusta GA to get to the beach if I live another 30 years. :D

Can't really fault insurance companies for leaving Florida. They aren't a charity. One can only lose their ass so many times.

Especially when you're accustomed to screwing everyone to make hand over fist.

I'm sure the bigger ones have their lawyers already lined-up and ready to reject as many claims as possible, then strongarm their way out of paying.

We've let those bastards get too damn big and have too much control over our lives.

And, after reviewing this, I am reminded that my thoughts on bed replacement + bob don't make any actual sense because the wheel wells would be in the wrong spot.

Unless I were to attempt to move the axle and shorten the driveshaft too, which gets into the realm of completely ridiculous shenanigans.

A 6' bed replacement for the '05 Tacoma still might be interesting, if the mounting points line up (RSI only advertises compatibility with 3rd gen Tacoma but it stands to reason that it might be possible to stuff on 2nd gen without tremendous customization?

In the meantime, I will stfu on this topic :p

I am curious to see where this idea/concept goes. There's a guy in Portland who has one on order so if it ever arrives I'm excited to see it in person.

it was Insane already, our busy work now is riding around takin transformers down that aren’t feeding anything and putting them back in the stock pile. We’re not even providing temporary power for builders if they elect to go underground with it. We set the pad mount transformer when the house is ready to be moved into.

Shitttttt we don't have insurance at the moment. The insurance quote was a little over $12k a year. They explained it was because of the shingle roof, windows and doors are not hurricane rated and we are a coastal property. Fk that. Once we get done with the repairs we will get insurance. Funny thing is they explained that the guest house cannot be insured because it's literally on the water

Funny how that works, can't insure a house because it's on the water but I can insure a house boat.
I've been thinking about getting a house boat, that would be another revenue stream that can help pay the $8k property tax and the insane insurance

I think it'd be badass, take an 8' bed RC and chop it down to a 6.5' bed with high clearance bumper
