I like my 1794 but if it were a work truck I would be worried about not holding up. Why did Toyota go with these plastic bumpers rather than using steel bumpers like the other manufacturers.

Painted steel front bumpers always get stone chips and rust. So unless they use chrome these will look better longer. Hopefully PCS works and we won’t hit anything.

You really think a steel bumper will hold up better? Steel dents and rusts. Plastic deforms and pops back usually.

The real questions is why didn't they make it so you could step on the bumper corner to get into the bed with the tailgate down. Mind numbingly dumb design choice.

I don't know why either but the lack of steel up front isn't concerning me as much. For my past and current Tundra I have been able to remove the tow hooks and install the same bull bar. Those days are in the past. I have decided to add the CBI covert bumper with bull bar. It's ridiculously expensive but extremely well made.

i agree the design engineer that thought to leave this out of the redesign needs to be booted .

the rumor i heard was that toyota is developing another option called the TundraBot it is a $3995 accessory that is built to work with you an your tundra. it is a type of dronebot that actually flys into your truck bed to push things out so you can grab it without jumping up into bed.

Really love the CBI covert bumper with a bull bar to keep the stock look. I'm trying my damn hardest to recall what it could be but something came across my lower front bumper and headlights. I drive an hour to work in the wee hours of the morning so full awareness isn't there. Really debating getting a full bumper guard but dislike the idea of straying away from the stock look.

Driver side dent popped back out, headlight has a deep scratch, and I believe the headlight mounts and trim clips are off so its not aligned. Passenger side included for reference.

The Covert with the bull bar is the one I have sitting in my shed. All it needs is a Tundra. I'm thinking you clipped a dear. I almost did that in my Ford Escort years ago on my way to work in the wee morning hours. I didn't see it until he put on the brakes hard right before hitting my passenger front fender. It would have been bad for both he/her and my passenger. The stock look is what appeals to me about the Covert bumper. The look not the price.:spending:

I'm thinking a deer or a boar. West TX don't joke around and it happened just yesterday. Not that it would save that part of the bumper but can I borrow your Covert for a bit til your Tundra arrives in 2024

I called my salesman and asked what month or year I would get my truck. He thought that was funny. I wasn't joking.:notsure: I will tell you the Covert bumper is HEAVY. I have a light weight bull bar on my 2016. It's the same model that was on my '06 when I pitted a local cop car (not my fault). It was sheared off but it saved the front end of my Tundra. BTW the cop car was totaled. Funny thing is I know the driver and he and his partner were fine .

    None, yet
Im leaning this direction as well. I reached out to CBI and they confirmed the optional bull bar does interfere with the TSS radar. Thats a must for me. It's one of my favorite pieces of tech on this thing.

That’s concerning. I’m sure I read somewhere where they advertised it did not interfere.
