A couple months ago I had a Toytec Boss lift kit installed - at that time we replaced some other shackles with these Toytec adjustable shackles and replaced the Bilstein 5100s with the Boss shocks with reservoirs.

Recently my truck has developed a lean where the driver's side is lower than the passenger side. Anyone have any idea why? If I stand on the back bumper and rock the truck the left is a lot more bouncy than the right too. There is no load whatsoever in the bed of the truck.

Possibly a bad shock? Is it a difference in the pressure in the shocks? I have no time to look for a leak or anything right njow but will later. In the mean time does anyone have any ideas?

Drivers side has the gas tank, driver, and battery. My Taco had the lean as well as my tundra. I'm stock in the rear and it leans a little.

This is so common that Coachbuilder has developed shims to correct the problem.

My Tacoma had the "Taco Lean" as well. There are threads on tacoma world about this same problem. In order to fix it on the Tacomas you would have to replace the cab bushings and add a spacer. Not sure if it's the same problem or not.

The left side reservoir has no air pressure and will not charge. The right is at approximately 62 PSI.

I think you have found the problem. Now time to diagnose it.

Put one CB spacer under the drivers front CO and you will be good to go.

Good thinking on the shock though. I totally screwed myself when building my suspension for my Jeep. I didn't have my N2 charged in my Kings. After I did charge up to 150 psi, my TJ raised about 1.5". So your line of thinking is right on if a shock wasn't charged or leaked. ToyTec is a grade A business, and they would take care of you in the event this was the case.

How did you check the N2 pressure?

@ToyTec Lifts - you guys have any good advice? I think these are supposed to be charged to 150-200PSI if I remember correctly. Had them installed at the shop you recommended..

Should these shocks be charged to adjust stiffness with air? Will it cause further damage driving one of them completely depleted?

With a digital gauge - it's just a schrader valve. Are they N2 charged? I may be able to go to a dealer and have them refilled. My compressor only goes to 150PSI.

OK, stop what you are doing. To check the pressure in a Shock you need a zero loss system. Just by checking with a tire pressure gauge you bled off the pressure. I wish we lived closer, I would charge the shocks for you.

Yes, the shocks take nitrogen. Does the remote reservoir have a psi stamp on it? I would guess it is 125-150 psi.

You need to take the shocks to a shop and get them recharged.

Yeah, I'm actually calling a couple local places now. Stamp says 150-200lbs.

    Hope that sorts me out.

I was on the fence about doing a basic shock rebuild, valving/tuning, N2 charging video/Picture procedure. Now I am going to do this when I rebuild my front King 2.5" 14" CO.

I will get with @jberry813 and we can get a video/pics together and post it up in the "how to" sections or whatever. This is pretty easy to do. The science is in the valving and understanding the effects of what is going on vs what you want to happen. Jason has a metric assload more experience with this than I do. He has always been very helpful to me, and is very sharing except his bud light.

OK, thanks. I would start at 150 psi or whatever ToyTec ships them at.

King does not ship with N2 charged in the shocks. Wonder if TT is the same way?

This is the kit you need to start checking pressures, rebuilding shocks. There are more expensive kits, and less expensive. This is one of those times Harbor Freight is not a good idea, and you get what you pay for.

Tell me about it....stuff isn't cheap. A shop shouldn't be real expensive to charge your shocks. I wouldn't charge you anything, but I also don't do hundreds of shocks a year either. Now I have a buddy with ORI's that has some leaks he will not fix, so he is buying my next bottle of N2.

No N2 in my small town. Got it filled with air to 150psi for my trip into Salt Lake. Thanks for everyone's help here.

OK people that are reading this thread. This reply is not to make Mike look stupid or anything else. We all learn by being taught or hard life lessons. So....

Do not put compressed air in your CO shocks. Now if your home compressor is hooked up to an air dryer full of desiccant, you are not possibly inducing water vapor into your shock body. You can imagine how oil, water, and machined shock internals work together.

I just called the shop that installed this kit and they don't even have nitrogen there. These shocks were charged with air from the start. This is the shop Toytec recommended.

    Obviously your not joking....but damn.

Yet another reason I do my own work. Wonder if @ToyTec Lifts knows this shop is filling shocks with air instead of N2?

I'm having an impossible time finding a shop that has nitrogen that goes up to a least 150 PSI. 4 Wheel Parts has it but they won't fill the shocks unless they're off the truck.

The shocks should be off the truck or no load on them.

I will be in your area in the next 45 days. Lol.

Can't drive there, pull shocks off, fill, and place back on truck?

I guess I could but that seems pretty bullshit to have to do just to charge them.

I don't have a ton of time this weekend, already late for plans because of this.

@Backslider any good news? Be nice to know what was the culprit. Do these toytecs come shipped empty and has to be filled prior to installation? That would be something good to know for everyone.
