Sooo I just finished my second hub swap for my ‘16 4x4 and I’m trying to find out if this small gap between the CV axle and the knuckle was normal.

I did my driver side last week and didn’t notice at the time but it has a minor gap too.
Axle nut is torqued to 249, hub is flush with knuckle.

That grease only came out during hub removal.CC9E39FB-B08F-472F-AFD6-148BB22CA254.jpgFD1A08D8-D964-47E7-9224-00BC3CAA2F91.jpg3D6A8261-2222-4D89-93CD-A80193AE9C6E.jpg

    Any one know?

Looks fine to me. If it were touching the spindle then it would be scraping against it as it rotates.

Thanks for the peace of mind.

If anyone is considering those KOYO eBay hubs that get posted around here, just completed both sides took me about 4 hours a side. the hardest part being getting the old hub off, but overall a doable install for someone with medium wrench experience.

if you can find hub/axle separator that works, I’d say save the time and just rent one. The one i rented didn’t fit so i had to use some muscle. Every video I watched they just easily removed the CV from the hub, both of mine took some swearing and breaks to get it out.

When the CV is in the hub I use a dead blow hammer to loosen it.
