Double check the spacing between your bars and posts. Per code, you are not allowed to be over 4". The spacing between your bar and post looks like it is larger. Not sure if it is over 4" though.

    Ours is pretty lax
But I’m the president so I don’t have the energy or care to be an asshole.
Just pay your dues so we can regrade the road, and don’t bitch at me about your neighbors - that’s between you and them…

What’s the height of your riser on your stairs? I know Commerical can’t be over 8” and I think residential may be 7”. Sometimes they require you to close in the riser too.

7" rise, 10" run. Everything is built according to the Alberta building code and the deck code requirements for my city. I actually overbuilt the deck in a lot of ways.

Finished all the framing in the basement. Super excited. Now the east part of electrical and insulating. I hired out a drywall guy though but I’m hoping I’m not getting screwed on the pricing. I’m supplying the drywall and getting it into the basement. He’s just gonna hang and finish about 1500sq ft total plus ceilings for $5k.
Anyways, he’s available, honest and a good worker so that’s 90% better than any cheaper not available worker right?

On another note I figured out the framing for the crawl space access window. Not the best but I’ll put an access panel over it or something.

We decided to hire a landscaping company to level some parts of the yard, expand the patio in the back, which needs to be leveled and a few steps to get from th front to the back patio. After a few months waiting, they got some equipment moved in and some dirt being moved.
Here are a few photos from today:

How many sheets of drywall does the job take? My drywall sub roughly charges per sheet installed, plus adds on like vaulted ceilings and such.

Works really well for solicitors too. It has to be disheartening to get a tiny door shut literally in your face midsentence.

I really want one of those doors now. It wouldn't be nearly as nice on my house since I don't have the brick walls to match but still...

Ok very annoyed by all the gaps in my hardwood. The company initially put some kinda filler in there but it wasn’t installed very good in some places. Since some has brown out. What can I use to fill? I know I have heard it needs to expand and contract with temp but also I hate gaps and don’t want them. The boards are both nailed and glued to the base board. The engineered hardwood that was originally installed in the other part of the house doesn’t have gaps. The wood we added to match for the kitchen is solid white oak.
Here are some of the worst spots:

Here is an example of the tightness of the engineered hardwood area.

We had solid oak flooring for 29 years, it was quite nice but it does contract especially in the middle of the winter. Our new home we opted for easy maintenance, got LVP, Luxury vinyl plank. So far we like it. It has a bevel built into it. It expands and contracts, but it has a snap lock to keep it together. You have to allow expansion at the walls, or the floor will buckle.

Added door guards to all exterior doors. They won't stop a serious intruder but they add a bit of security.

New parking pad for our raft trailer with spot for future garden shed.

Just over 9Tons of recycled asphalt moved and raked by hand. I was able to borrow a plate compactor from a buddy to finish it. Sub 48hr turnaround.
