Hey speaking of bugs. Somethings been bugging me.

I'm eventually going to need to get a car for my oldest, it's only a couple of years away. I was eyeballing Scion, but remembered I haven't seen their logo on a Toyota dealership in a few years. Seems Toyota discontinued the line.

Wiki page says, "Toyota abolished the Scion brand at the start of the 2017 model year in August 2016; the vehicles were either rebranded as Toyotas or discontinued."

Article they link that to says, "As part of the brand transition, beginning in August 2016, MY17 Scion vehicles will be rebadged as Toyotas. The FR-S sports car, iA sedan and iM 5-door hatchback will become part of the Toyota family."

I guess the "iA sedan" is the Yaris? And the "im hatchback" is the Corolla HB?

Damn this shit is confusing. Want to get the kid a Toyota, but Rav4 may be a hint too big. I don't want her to become the people-hauler of her friend group.

they're poisonous, and get like 10" long. When i catch em, i have a smooth fresh bucket to put em in so they cant climb the sides, and i have a hole on my property i dump 'em in. Dont want 'em to hurt my dog.

They look mean, but they're really good to have around. We used to have a ton of them back when I grew more and kept compost. Lots of worms, lots of soldier flies.

 

Man you guys have issues with Florida, all valid but Tennessee got ripped to shreds a few months ago by tornadoes, flooding and mudslides. California needs no explanation, fk dat. Georgia had separate high school proms up until a few years ago, 1 for whites and 1 for blacks WTF. We can make pro/nay arguments for every state, and Florida has a lot of nays. Florida is about 2 things, summer is like 8-10 months and #2 is

Sadly, it's been mine and my other dudes' experiences that the #2 part of it is mostly batshit crazy, more baggage than an airport, and 10x more trouble than it's worth.

Yes. It's probably true other places also. But if we were comparing the saturation of crazy to piss samples, Florida is about as orange as a 2-month old roadside piss bottle someone tossed out, where everywhere else is like Busch Light in a test tube.

Things start to get sketchy near that KY/WV border RE: substance abuse. Skinny sometimes comes with a reason, same way dadbod has been haunting me all these years.

 

yea, the first one showed up after my neighbor was over, called her up and was like 'hey, you might have an issue', but after a little research found out what they were, and i've never seen em inside, but i've seen em around.

 

That was Kentucky you are thinking of but we do getting flooding and naders in Tennessee too. Not as much where I live in East TN though.

Hey now speak for your own side of the state. Our roads are beautiful and no traffic once you get past the Gorge, nobody trying to oppress you from doing your own thing, very live and let live. I think it may have something to do with the color of your voting district though....

Yeah, we'd definitely want to plant more new native species. To give us some visual block with the neighbors (they have a really nice hangout spot) as well. That's exactly what we want to do and the black walnut chokes out native species. Plus the squirrels pelt us with nuts and laugh. And the wood has value for furniture. And it's relatively close to the house. And it sheds.

Working on a landscaping plan right now so we can take out the honey locust (it's sister fell down in the last ice storm and took out power we were told.) I don't want it falling on our vehicles (which don't fit in the garage).

 

There's a street near us with massive lots and what feels like much more freedom. I ran it the other day and was instantly jealous. My wife wanted more of a neighborhood with kids and that part of our street is awesome, two families within yelling distance, both have a pair of boys roughly the same ages as ours. So we are stoked on that, especially as things settle and they get more capable of doing stuff on their own.

I'm a new 1st gen owner and I have a suspension question! Sorry to change the topic but I've been searching these threads and finally decided to join to see if I can get some help! Just bought my 01 AC and it has strut spacers and it's horrible! Anyone have any input on the OME "the clint" lift kit? It's in the area of my budget ($2500)

Not only that, but they're toxic to other plants, they release juglone which will really screw up anything you plant nearby. How do I know? Had one in my front yard on move-in. I cut it out of the ground years and years ago. The stone fruit trees I planted a few feet away didn't mind. After a few years, I got tired of curculio, and took the native peach out, and put a Nuttall Oak in its place. 3 years in, all the branches on the oak toward the side its root plate is infringing on the old black walnut root plate are wilted, yellow. Only that side of the tree. It's crazy, but an Arborist I paid gaggles of money to come out lit up when I mentioned the black walnut.

You have an Access Cab, so avoid OME. I can point you to much more info on why, but the gist is, Double Cabs are a totally different beast, heavier, and OME gears their lift results based on a fully-loaded Double Cab (DC) with 4WD and V8 so their lift numbers will be grossly off for your truck, and you'll likely end up with issues. Even if you have 4WD and a V8 in your Access Cab (AC), whatever they claim the lift will be, yours will be easily 1"+ that number and you'll be screwed, like this guy.

Tell us:

• Are you 2WD or 4WD?
• Are you planning on having any added weight, like a huge armored front bumper, or a camper/topper/similar rear weight added?
• Are you planning to lift in the rear at all, or just looking to get the front of the truck close to level, or perfectly level?

Happy to give you advice. Guys like us with AC V8/4WD trucks have had great luck maintaining a great ride with Bilstein 5100s, at the bottom-most clip, using OME 2883 springs to settle with a tiny bit of front rake for a sport-lifted look, using OME 2884 springs to settle out level, and OME 2885 springs if you plan to lift the rear and get rid of the slight reverse-rake others have landed with. For V8/2WD or V6/2WD trucks with no added weight, honestly, you'd probably want to go OME 2883 to get roughly level.

Whatever you do, DO NOT trust the input of (A) manufacturers who give you closer to the "minimum possible" lift or the expected lift for a full-loaded DC truck, and (B) what results some other guy got with his DC truck.

Edit: If you've got the coin, just buy coilovers. Then the amount of lift you get is negligible, you can just adjust it to where you like it.

You're not going to get to that tire size/width without rubbing frame or cab, even with picky wheel selection and hammering/cutting stuff. Even lifted, unless maybe you plan to body lift also. You'd be better off aiming for 10.5 target width.

You know all the extra stuff up front you'll need to replace by lifting over ~2.5", right? It adds up quick, gotta ask...

What's are your budgets, both with and without tires/wheels?
