    I can't argue with this.

I am really not a Mustang fan. I don't think I could own one. But there is no doubt that they are wickedly fast right off the showroom floor. Makes my 2006 Pontiac GTO look like a honda civic. Your typical 6000+ lb Crewmax Tundra isnt giving it a hard time except for a quick stoplight drag unless the driver is simply not paying attention.

I am not disputing they are fast, they are. But fast is also relatively and mainly staying course or otherwise, it is useless to be a 4 sec car when you can't even keep it to the track for the 1/8 or 1/4 mile

Right but the example given was a freeway on ramp. That's kill territory for a Mustang. That's not kill territory for a 6000+ lb brick of a truck that's in 2wd with an open diff. The only place the truck is relatively quick is in the 60' in 4x4.

Yes, would be cool if we can retrofit an electric motor to the front wheels and the supercharger driving the rear wheels. However, I think those electric superchargers may be more feasible.

Generally more wear and tear on the vehicle but there are several very high mileage Tundras running blowers.
You'll need to pay more attention to maintenance items.
Finding a competent installer/tuner can also be difficult.
MPGs go lower if you goon around a lot.
Better brakes and tires is almost a prerequisite IMO.

It sounded like the Iforce max testing showed no improvement in 0-60 times, likely due to increased weight and the temporary way the hybrid is involved. Overall that design appears to be a dud if the goal was speed. It would be frustrating to have an already turbocharged v6 with a complicated hybrid system and not be able to really modify that, vs. the simple v8 getting a supercharger of your choosing and tune is pretty dynamic.

The 2022 is also less than a year old. Give it some time and I'm sure people will pull fat power out of it, it's already equipped with the goods anyways.

I saw VFTuner has already vowed to provide tuning support for it, I think it’s in the works. I think my money is still on the blown V8 without upgrading to larger turbos. The dyno numbers may come in higher on the hybrid but I’m betting against it actually being faster (Maybe equal to.) Flashing the ECU would most likely result in a voided warranty though, which is a gamble I’d sooner take on a proven 5.7 but not an all new drivetrain. Either way, looking forward to seeing what they can do with some tuning and bolt ons. They just have too much ground to make up. I don’t know why, but they just don’t seem as quick as they should be.

considering how strong the tuned 3.5 ecoboosts are - I hope Toyota could get to at least those numbers.

I think they can probably get close enough with the numbers, but not actual performance in the truck. A definite factor is the f150s are a lot lighter, being aluminum sardine cans. I can only imagine how much faster my truck would be if I could shed 1,000 lbs.

Keep in mind that was never their intention to provide "ultimate speed", there was brief discussion of having the TRD Pro to reach Raptor/TRX-esque performance when the original TRX testing program began, but the costs was high and marketing feedback was "meh", we really have to keep in mind that 2nd gen Tundra was REALLY ahead of its time in terms of engineering when it came out, but it never touched the D3 (Detroit 3) in terms of sales number, so there was a lot of push against spending equivalent of what they spent back then on the new gen for a stand alone model, that's where the F1 platform shines.

The hybrid really shines where it drives, the down low torque make it effortless, it may not be fast on measurement but the overall smoothness is truly remarkable, the new chassis also make it drive smaller than it is, it has its short comings, but I think overall is a great improvement on vehicle dynamics.

Also, a lot of magazine are not showing promised mpg, I've noticed they really need to be broken in to hit those 20mpg+, I've personally seen near 25mpg on a broken in version.

As far as tuning, V35A engine packs a punch, I do think eventually turbo upgrade kit will be available sooner or later, since Hilux race trucks have switched to V35A since last year, can it make 700hp as effortlessly as 3UR? no, laws of physics come into play.

My curiosity is more what mpg are normal imax owners seeing when they switch to 35s, these drivetrain can be sensitive to rotational mass when comes to fuel consumption.

100% correct - the initial movement of that larger rotational mass is all being done by just a V6 (no built up turbo yet) vs a V8, and that's a major hit on city MPG. You only get the efficiency of turbos once they're full boosting (i.e. highway miles).

M2C - SC (obviously been stated) if you want performance. Someone also mentioned a simple re-gear - that makes a yuge impact both on and off road performance (better city mileage). too - I would consider if you're mostly on road or plan on any off-roading. I just don't trust turbos off-road vs NA/SC - I've see so many diesel mess themselves up off roading with turbo lag. If you're highway crunching, I'd probably lean more towards the TT.

Like in that one Holdener video, it’s the old dyno trick. Open cone filters with the hood open on the dyno for the best numbers, even though it would not be good for power on the street.

I'm 80% certain the ring gears are the same size on 3rd gen, and I do not see speed sensors on the diffs, I wonder if it's possible they can be regear to 4.88, or even 5.29, since I think last 4 gears are overdrives, that would be a lot of fun.

I also think the boss lady is ok with the idea of a built engine.

Hard to argue that presently a supercharger would be the way to go, but I wouldn't be surprised if the twin turbo proves to be the more powerful package when the tuners unlock the potential of the newest engine. Who knows how the hybrid part will fit into the equation?
I love all forced induction but a BIG fan of turbos, alcohol injection and their on the fly adjustability.
My Buick can run around at a docile 16lbs of boost and at a moments notice over double that and turn into a completely different animal.
    IMG_1177.jpg

No problem handling a Hellcat (in a straight line anyway) and much prefer the turbo whistle to a supercharger whine.
Watching the power and what the BMW Supra's are doing in the quarter is simply amazing
Personally, for the record, I'd have a harder time getting past the newest Tundra's looks more than it's TT V6 engine
