Apple people tend to like Apple, Android, Android. I like my Apple universe but don't hate Android. It's a preference, which do you prefer?

The wife has iPhone, I have Android. I prefer the Android Auto over Apple Carplay from a user interface perspective. It shows 2 apps on screen, and carplay only shows one. However, I too have issues with it disconnecting, not connecting on startup, or not connecting quick enough and the truck will connect to my wife's phone instead of mine. I don't know if those issues are the same with an iPhone or not, but they are annoying to deal with.

You can get a good phone, or a Samsung. As above, which do you prefer?

After having both, Apple CarPlay seems to work more seamlessly and consistently than Android Auto ever did. Not perfect, but definitely less quirky.

I was hoping there would be some added benefit to switching to Apple. I have been an Android fan for decades. I'm the only member of my family that is. Funny how the one paying the bill is the only one different from the rest. Well I have finally decided to convert. I will miss my stylus, but it's great to know that CarPlay works better than Android Auto. The continuous disconnection would drive me nuts. Any word on what is causing the disconnect?

    Android auto is definitely buggy.
Even the bugs and quirks are inconsistent.

make sure that you have the latest Android Auto installed - it does not automatically update (At least didn't for me).
I've been fighting the AA crashes for months. The other day, while in a long conference call, being on a verge of sticking a pencil in my ear, I pulled it up, and saw that I was a few revisions behind.
Installed the update, and haven't had a crash yet.

You could also buy a phone that you actually own, can fix yourself for a couple of loose 20s out of your wallet and isn't made by children in China, or you can get an Apple. :monocle::duel:

Apple, Samsung, Google whatever... all made from less than 50$ worth of plastic, silicon, a smidge of metals and a lithium battery. The bragging rights for that cute lil' piece of fruit emblem are definitely worth an extra grand or two. ;)

They make Samsungs in India...and I'm not too sure they stick all that closely to labor laws either.

Mine shows GPS on the left 2/3 of the screen, and apple music/spotify on right third. I didn't do anything specific, it was just doing it for me by default on android auto.

do you have the 14'' screen? that may be it. i'm on the 8'' and it shows GPS on the top ~85% of the screen, and the bottom bar is just the spotify button for me.

    Too many, but not enough....
There's a reason 75% of the world uses Android. Apple is a niche, designer thing uses by the first world people only since they have the time for first world problems of trying to get their hippy phone to work and fit with the actual world.
