Hello all. New to this forum. Been lurking and reading for a few days. I’ve got a few questions about replacing the jbl amp under the passenger seat. I know I need a DSP and an amp. My question is I want to keep all the stock speaker locations working. 8 outputs in all. Do I need to power all speaker locations through an amp or will the head unit suffice for some locations? Thanks!

I literally just received this today. Haven't installed yet.
2007 to 2021 Tundra with JBL 8 channel Replacement Amp (tech12volts.com)
It is 6 channels in, 8 out.

Looking at the wiring, they (Tech12) are simply not passing the two front dash speakers to the DSP amp, but instead in the digital setup they are splitting that signal back out and sending to the speakers from the DSP amp.

@RainMan_PNW, how’s that JBL-8, I’m waiting for James to send mines out, I was able to max my volume, listening to jazz music, interested on how much better it will sound with the JBL-8.

I’ve been very happy with it. I can’t say I’ve listened to jazz with it, but my mix of different classic rock, hard rock, and heavy metal have all sounded much better
I did turn the master volume on it down a little (using the USB cable and a laptop) after I’d had it for a week or so to eliminate a slight hiss when nothing was playing.

Waiting on my stuff from @james@tech12volts as well....can't wait!

Getting the 8 channel JBL amp, door and dash speakers, and the pre-cut dampening pads for the crewmax he offers.

The stock JBL system is an embarrassment. I think I saw someone else post that JBL should be ashamed for putting their name on that and I tend to agree!

I have my own amp and sub boxes and @james@tech12volts is programming the amp he's sending to accommodate that. He's been awesome to deal with...great communication.

Like I said...can't wait to get this stuff in so I can FEEL my music again!!

Almost there...have my JL Audio 8" micro sub-boxes with a JL Audio JX500/1D amp installed. Installed the JBL 8-channel from @james@tech12volts along with all the dash and door speakers minus one door. Got the SoundShield as well for the Crewmax...already cut to size! Aside from a couple of dumba-- moments it's been a fairly easy install. James has had to straighten me out a couple of times on the instructions but has been very responsive and pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend working with him if you want your system to sound the best. I am very impressed. Old school guy here not used to dealing with these fully integrated systems. Getting all this stuff preprogrammed and pre-wired was the best decision I've made so far with this (new-to-me) truck!
Probably working on the last door today and a few cleanup items and I'll be ready to rattle the rear-view for a while!!
