What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

After a few weeks of trying to find a matching color handle and getting tired of opening the window in order to get out of the truck, finally replaced the interior door handle on the drivers side today. Took about 20 mins from start to finish. There a slight color difference between the old trim piece and the new handle, but I think it’s from years and years of sun fade.

 

You might be able to get by with a clear coat respray rather than full paint.

 

I "LIKE" my Tundra

We ended up not using it for an appliance move BUT dam thing Rides sweet and when using "cruise" it "sips gas like Bourbon instead of Bud"

That New tint did its job also...

 

Just put on the toolbox from my Tacoma. It’s a little short but I made it work.

 

If y’all remember, my dumbass only ordered one reboot kit thinking it was for both axles. Ended up buying two new Cardone ones due to time constraints, and kept the OEM’s. Well here’s an update 6 months and 3k miles later:





COMPLETE GARBAGE!

 

So what’s the alternative?

 

IMO, rebuild your OEM ones or buy a new OEM set.

 

OEM is the only way I have gone...

Lucky for him a family member works at Toyota ; Heavy parts Discount and the advantage of "Shop use"...

My Son ALSO got a lesson on "Cleaning the undercarriage " when not 2 days later I smell gear oil.... Right rear wheel seal leaking The rear end vent was plugged with mud ....

His 1st rear brake job with an axle seal PLUS the "breather mod" up to the gas filler door

And NO, he NEVER got my keys again

 

In other news, got my skid row setup installed today. Only hard part was running to the store for a drill bit, as my cheap HF set was so worn out I couldn't get it done. Anybody have a recommendation for a drill bit set? @shifty` ?

 

Consider getting a step bit for that job. I wish I had one when I drilled into my frame.

 

I used a new 1/4 first and then a 3/8's. iIt honestly was easy and went through it like butter. That crossmember is a pretty light gauge.

 

More line Fargone, not Cardone. Or your Car done need 'nother set of boots after a couple thousand miles.

Honestly, with all the frame work I've done over the years, I typically grab a pack of the cobalt bits at the big box hardware store. Dewalt is usually the ones I'll grab. I couldn't even kill a single bit in the set across 2 different 60s-era GM pickup frames. But in the event I've needed to replace, you can go back to the store and buy individual tips.

But @FirstGenVol is right. having a step bit is killer. I prefer to drill a small pilot beforehand, then blow it out from there.

As far as bed setup, I've heard the Ridgeline's have a built in storage compartment in the floor. HTH.

I was just talking to my sis in St Pete. The national news is making it sound like Armageddon is coming. I’m curious just how bad this thing is going to get.

 

As a former Floridian that's, like, every freaking hurricane. You get desensitized to it after a year or two, and I'm not even kidding. Every one you survive makes you more skeptical of the reports. To the point you legitimately don't know what to take seriously or not, you just kinda watch NOAA to track the 3, 5, 7 day and assess the risk on your own, despite how educated you may or may not be. Floriduh.

Man, you'd think you were a Cali guy with all that grass in your truck.
