The Taco won't have adequate passenger room IMO. It's pretty small.

As for towing the RZR, I have a small two seater, not a huge 4 door race machine, so it's pretty light. Also, I don't try to tow at 80 MPH like the guys pulled over with blown trailer tires. I am perfectly happy to cruise along at 65 for MPGs and to keep from overheating the trailer tires.

It sounds to me like you just want a new truck. IMO the tundra is better than the taco in every category....hands down better. The mileage difference is minimal in the real world. You already know my opinion about the taco. Hopefully the next gen improves it cuz it seriously needs it. Good luck with your new taco and I hope it serves you well....please stay around here, we like you! Or at least I do.

NGL, I definitely have the itch for something new. Have had for a year, but it wasn't until riding in the Taco that I felt there was a valid option.

As for the forum, I'm not going anywhere. Just like herpes. :p

This pretty well solidifies the Taco as the right choice for me. I briefly had a temptation for the power and 9 speed in the Nissan. Not to knock the Nissan. It's a badass truck, but the places I've been in my Tundra and where I'll continue to go.... The Taco will handle it so much better. Frontier is a little cheaper MSRP, but I also haven't seen it anywhere for anything less that a $3K-$5K mark up. That puts it so close that the Taco's added off road chops are worth it.

To each their own! The Nissan is a solid truck and I'm sure I'd like it. I'm just gonna spoil myself and get exactly what I want. :p

So, I've been going through the pricing on used Tundras, and there's not a feasible way to get a Taco in a completely lateral move on debt. The numbers just aren't there. I've also been researching the TRD Pro Tacoma, and I have come to the realization that I don't care. Life's short, and I'm willing to take on a little more to pull it off. I have to if I want the Pro, and I do. I'll be cutting my payment by a significant amount, but I'll keep paying what I am now to minimize the increasing interest rates.

Now it'll come down to getting a number the dealer is happy with and I'm happy with. The one I've had the best feeling about is a long ways away (over 1000 miles), so I need to account for the cost of fuel and a night or two in a hotel, plus personal time lost to travel in whatever price they come up with. If it's only a hundred less than a local dealership, it just won't be worth the travel expenses and lost time. However, if it's a solid discount over what I can find closer, I'm not opposed to one final road trip in the Tundra.

Really? I hate it. It takes too long and creates an adversarial relationship with a business that should be cultivating repeat customers. Just my opinion, but I understand people enjoying the fight. Just not for me.

less the fight, more looking for the right fit and constructing what i am willing to do. As far as back and forth with dealer, thats a negative ghost rider. I will typically go in and state what i am willing to do and allow them the time to do their process and eventually either accept or refuse.

So, hoping for allocation news from the dealership in Texas I was referred to. At least that's what the guy said. Still waiting to hear back. Also going to contact a more local dealership who said he'll get allocation news this week as well. :fingerscrossed:

Just spoke with the dealership in Texas. He finally got a system fixed (I didn't know it was broken) so he can see what's coming. He can see a Solar Octane Tacoma and when it'll finish production. Said he'd be surprised if he doesn't have in on hand by the middle of November. :yay:

Tomorrow he will email me the window sticker so we can iron out the price/accessories. The way he said it I think I'll actually be able to pick and choose what is and isn't on it, so that's cool. Then we will get to the trade in discussion, and as long as we aren't miles apart on the total amount, I should be in a sweet new Taco before December.

Thanks for pointing me that direction, @RobertD because it's definitely looking like the quickest way to get a hold of one at MSRP. :fistbump:

    Hell yes!!

First off though, we need to negotiate time allowed on TW vs here.
Somewhat of a custody battle, if you will.

I'm good with 70/30, Tundras/TW. Any objections from the crowd??

Hey, @RobertD or @Squatting Pigeon since you guys know the area, do you have a recommended shop to get a quality detail and ceramic coating done? I'm really thinking about getting this done before driving back, but I know lots of them need lots of notice to set it up.

Yes sir, John Scott Solar does Some seriously good work. When my GR Corolla comes in, he’ll be ceramic tinting the windows and PPFing damn near the whole car.

Once I have more info on the Taco I'll have to reach out and see about scheduling. If I can get down there and pick up the truck really fast after one of my weeks off starts, I might be able to get it all done and make it back in time for my next hitch at work. :monocle:
