I do enjoy a good Belgian or Belgian-style strong ale. Not too many folks around here making them.

I was just talking to my brother about that. He recently took a job in Germany and has been posting pics of all the good beers over there, pilsners, lagers, kolsch, etc. I told him I'm jealous because all anyone makes around here are IPAs and sours it seems like. Granted there are a few decent options for the ones I mentioned earlier, it's just no competition with the hipster stuff all the local breweries put their time into.

No shit, I usually shop at Albertsons and to their credit, they have recently started to stock a large amount of local beers. Problem is that 95% of them are IPAs, I hate IPAs. Today on the way home from work I stopped by Fry's cause it was on the way and I needed my daily beer, Miller Lite. They had a vanilla porter, so I grabbed a 6-pack. I usually like porters, but have yet to try a vanilla one, so we shall see later tonight.

I mostly drink IPAs. I can't drink lagers or pilsners but the occasional dunkel dopple boch is pretty good.

Had my first Octoberfest this week with a buddy over lunch. So good. And it gives me hope for fall and an end to this summer heat.

    LOL,
That's kind of like me. I don't drink beer. I have never tasted one that was good enough to want to have it again. I guess I am more of a sweet tooth, so I stick with sodas or sweet tea.
But I am reading through this whole thread because I am intrigued by all the different beers, IPA, craft beers etc. I wish I could appreciate it more.

Still seems a little early for it, but now that you’ve mentioned it I’m craving an Oktoberfest lol. San Tan Brewing makes a really good one, but I’ll try to swing by a bottle shop and get some imported ones too.

As a previous beer judge, I can appreciate even the styles that I don’t personally care for.
It takes training, and a whole higher level of nerd, to be able to do that.

That's a good one but I've been so spoiled by our local beer industry that I haven't bought a beer made outside Alberta in a long time.

LS turned me on to a really nice cream ale. Plus it has a picture of me on the can.

I'm over IPAs for awhile. This is an easy drinking, simple, inexpensive, well made lager. Melikey.
