I have travelled all over this world of ours, but final resting place looks to be Louisiana for the foreseeable future. It’s not my actual dream place but life also can dictate your outcome. Life gives us all different paths…..

Love the huge pepper btw. Wish I had the skills and equipment/forge to make my own blades/knives. I watch and enjoy the History channel show “Forged in Fire”, do you all that follow this thread watch that show too?

I’ve watched it but hate the clowns. I know the guy that says “it will kill” is a legit bad ass, but I want to harm somebody when I hear that cheesy chit.

That’s a Hungarian goat horn pepper.
Yeah, I love watching the show. Like all ‘reality’ shows, there’s a lot that isn’t quite real, but it’s definitely entertaining.

He is actually saying, "It will KEAL"; which is an acronym for 'Keep Everyone ALive'.... This acronym is used in his seminars and within his training environments as a means of motivating and reassuring those he is training/mentoring that the weapon or technique being utilized will do as it's intended (prevent you or those you love from being mortally wounded/killed) and not fail you when the chips are down and you're defending your life or the lives of those around you.

I’m not the brightest man out there I will admit to, but surprisingly I knew that. I have 2 uncles that I am very close to & grew up with (when me and my brother were teens we would spend ALL/EVERY summer between their homes learning the trade and helping around the dojos, etc) both use to teach martial arts back in the day (one Kenpo and other Shotokan). Anyway, they have been doing this for a long time and uncle S. I will call him is a very high Dan in the Shotokan world and has meet DM and knows him. DM is actually closer to my age but I have never meet him personally. Anyway, one day I was talking to uncle S. And I mentioned the show and how DM cracks me up when he says “it will kill” and he then explained to me like you did above what he was really saying and what it meant. From all appearance DM is a legit super nice guy too but definitely knows how to handle himself. He’s the actually reason I started watching the show then fell in love with blade forging. I really like it and wish I had the equipment/time/my younger self to forge myself. That time has now passed and I will just watch the show and enjoy it that way. You guys on this thread that forge for a hobby or a living, I tip my hat off to you as it looks absolutely grueling!! :hattip:

No sir. Both my uncles are well known and have been in martial arts magazines and I probably already gave too much info as is. Don’t need any of you internet sleuths being able to figure it out. My uncles wouldn’t care at all, but that’s just one step away from finding out my info and I didn’t join my first ever online anything for that even though me personally being no one of importance! Just know my uncles can beat your uncles up!!:fistbump:

oh I know who that is and I have meet Senior Grandmaster Parker. So are you kin to him? You don’t have to say cause I’m not putting out too much personal info on myself. Just curious. If in his family we may know each other or have at least met. He died right before I went into the military and it hit my uncle hard. He was very well loved!!

Look at you asking probing questions :boink:; it's crazy how easy it is to fall down the internet wormhole in quest of answers, ties and random connections… No worries, I'll probe no more!!!

It's crazy the sense of "family" that we develop in these types of circles and even crazier when we find out how small they really are. I'm sure as you were growing up, you experienced a similar dynamic of having these satellite family members being just as influential in your development and path into adulthood as your real family. I can honestly say they shaped my character, were highly influential in my career choices, and ultimately made me into who I would become as an adult. I am forever grateful to those who were a part of that small circle of my "extended" family.

    Have a great weekend!!

Yep, no ricaso, per the client request. I’ve cut myself several times on my own, during rapid mincing. I always ask because people are pretty passionate about having it or not.

Caught this one on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t bid on an eBay auction in probably 20 years but decided to try and snipe it at the last moment. Placed my first bid with about 3 minutes remaining and was immediately outbid. At that point my competitive nature took over so I wasn’t going to lose. Went back and forth for the last few minutes and placed the winning bid with two seconds left.
Turns out the other bidder was my wife, trying to get it for me. We drove the price up 80 bucks between us.
