Anyone else with any kind of lift running into the problem of the traction control for the anti skid kicking in on like off ramps and sharp curves in the road. i did some reading and i guess it has to be recalibrated. Just another topic really!

YES that and I have noticed hitting a small bump like pothole as I'm accelerating it kicks in and slows me way down. Kinda a bad feature as it could cause an accident if I'm trying to punch it.

Yep happened to me this morning taking the on ramp too fast. Front tires skidded a bit and trac control went off.

    It happens.

I was able to turn traction control off however that solid light is still on. Manual says it should reset after a short time. Not sure how long.

your check engine light is on too.....check the gas cap.

if it doesn't go off in a couple of days, it may be the fuel pressure sensor. Mine's just like that. Been on for about a month. Getting it fixed in another month or so.

At least yours has the light on. I wouldn't try to reset it. Take it to the dealership or a good independent and run techstream to find out what's wrong. Mine goes off in certain corners, but everything tests out normal.

I had that happen 4th of July at the beach. Extra soft sand, traction control kicked in three times and the light stayed solid, in 4HI. Checked it with techstream and the stored code was C1234, yaw rate sensor. I cleared the code and was good for three days. Then, again soft sand the light came on in the morning, traction control didn't activate that I noticed. Going back in the evening the light went off after about two miles, still in the sand. Checked for stored codes and it was C1234 again. I saved the freeze frame, it's on my wife's laptop where the techstream is installed. I'll post it here when I get a chance. I'm leveled only, never did the ZPC, but never had any problems either. Things that make you go Hmmmm?

Freeze frame, code is still stored, but the light is off.

IMO the traction control systems and even ABS that you find on every car these days, aside from higher end or sports cars, are mainly there to satisfy government safety regulations.

They just don't work like they should, and because of that I find they cause more harm than good. Auto manufacturers just want something there and as cheap as possible.

My old cars ABS would go off if I was dragging the brake pedal going over railroad tracks. Since I had a light touch on the brake, the ANS kicking on basically took away the braking force. This was on my commute before a stop sign. Not good.

Well I can tell you that that ABS on my truck has saved my butt many times from rear ending someone when I wasn’t paying close enough attention. The Anti skid is def a PIA at the moment with how sensitive it has become due to the slight lift. I hope I can fix it.

ABS doesn't help you stop quicker, it only allows you to steer while braking hard.

I'm not a fan of the ABS system in this truck either. If I make a quick reaction to the brake pedal but with only light force (not nearly enough to have caused a lock up) the ABS still chatters away.

"Chatters away" is what it is supposed to do. It is preventing a full on lock up, which then becomes unsteerable. Pickup trucks are not very manuverable esp due to the light rear end. It works well for me that's all I can say. I have also driven plenty of modern sports cars where ABS will make a bad driver look like he is a good driver, esp. on the track. It is crazy what these systems will do. Again, tho, in a truck it is basic.

My traction control is turned off all the time. First thing I do when I start it is hold down VSC button for 5 sec. Computer can't cope with the 37s and lift and I can't stand the beeping on sharp turns. I think VSC causes more trouble than it's worth and interferes way too much. Plus, I can peel out and lay a patch much easier. :spy:

Yeah but it's not supposed to chatter or activate when I press the brake lightly. Read my post again.

You need to start paying attention. Having to slam on the brakes and rely on ABS to steer around the car in front of you because you weren't paying attention , and having that happen more than once is just not good. Especially in a big heavy truck that can cause major injuries to drivers in smaller cars
