As long as Midnight black painted and not the black plastic, it would be. But also, no - not driving down south any time soon!

If we’re both agree to split shipping, I can order the colour match covers for reg mirrors and swap them out.

replacement colour matched covers and shipping seems cheaper then new set

I still haven’t been able to confirm what will swap - the lane assist / BSM could be problematic. Anyone?

I’m still waiting for someone to try the trade. I’d prefer the standard mirrors as well. Tow mirrors on mine here in the Bay Area.

someone be the Guinea Pig already?!

I’d order the OEM standards and swap them as soon as I knew it was possible

My tow mirrors show up mid August. If the swap is successful, I'll put mine in the marketplace.

*edit - just realized you're GETTING tow mirrors. I had it backwards.

Put them here first! I need a set. Unfortunately (for me) I have an SR5 with the plain black mirrors. Finding a candidate willing to trade doesn't seem likely.

My 2023 'midnight black metallic' Platinum hasn't been delivered yet but is supposed to be here around the end of October. My dealer is looking for OEM towing mirrors to exchange for the ones factory installed. The 2022 and 2023 models are 100% the same. In addition to the mirrors themselves, the interior switch would need to be swapped out. Anyone interested?

Sadly I've given up on this pursuit of swapping in the factory tow mirrors. It's part of a different harness that includes a different alternator, new harness, and removing the dash. Apparently the backend communication is different based on the can buss communication the truck uses. Idfk really just telling you what has been told to me. I might revisit it again but for now I'm not blazing this trail. I got my lift to an agreeable spot so gonna focus on removing some chrome now.

So here is the deal on the towing mirrors....
I have a 22 Tundra Platinum and I tow all the time. I was bound and determined that I would have the mirrors regardless of cost. It took my dealer months to get this figured out and the cost was outrageous. I'm going to share what I paid and just know I'm not proud of it...lol. I'm a stock truck guy and I love this truck. Price tag: $6,100 after tax here in Washington State.

There are a few problems with exchanging the mirrors.

#1- most importantly, the wire harness for models with tow mirrors and models without are COMPLETELY different. You have to order two new wiring harnesses with 14 connections on each, totaling $1100
#2- you have to order 1 new switch with the mirrors. It is the mirror extender switch
#3- The rear light (which I thought was really cool) will not function unless you replace one of the CPU's (according to dealer)
#4- Another relay is required under the hood to operate the mirrors

the good news- after all that, the cameras, the extension, the lane sensing system, lights, etc all work. The mirrors are a vast improvement. That said, they are NOT worth $6,100.

More good news- if you don't like tow mirrors and would like a set of black regular mirrors (with new harnesses), I have a set that I'll make someone a great deal on.

I did not have to replace the alternator by the way. Also, the dash does not need to be removed.

Wow! Repeat....Wow! Thanks for that info. I won't be doing that. I think I'll go with the towing mirrors I had on my 2004 Tundra which worked very well.

    https://hensleymfg.com/product/mckesh-portable-towing-mirrors/

And if you're wondering, they don't scratch up the paint on the door nor do they vibrate very much in the wind. Far better than any strap-on or clip-on solution in my experience. I don't tow all the time so for me the McKesh mirrors are a good option.

Plus, everything I read says there's a lot of visibility blocked by the OEM towing mirrors.

Aren’t there a non-power version on some work truck model(s)? I thought I saw on a long bed SR(5?). Obviously less functional but less $ and hassle if you just want the basic tow mirror. Am I having a fever dream or might those be for sale somewhere?

I have the exact opposite situation. My new pro is coming next month (16 month wait!) and it has tow mirrors. I never tow and think they look a bit bulky. I was willing to pay to swap them and the dealer said they won't do it because it's a nightmare. I am also in Washington state. I wonder if they learned it's a nightmare from doing yours!?!
Do you still have the mirrors available in case I find someone willing to do the swap?

Nope not in every region. My 1794 doesn't have them.

Tow mirrors are standard on upper trims in Canada I believe, but not in the states. I tried my heart out to get them & it wasn’t happening. Now it looks like I’ll be shopping aftermarket mirrors as I’m not all in for $6,100.
I have used used Milenco’s in the past and was pretty satisfied until one tried to commit suicide while driving through the U.P. of Michigan. Open to any better suggestions.

my dealer quoted me 3200 bucks for the two mirrors plus 2 hrs of labor and obviously tax….I am also looking for an after market option but can’t seem to be able to find anything.

I have them, and to be honest I dont like them. I find the top mirror isnt big enough....or the bottom isnt big enough? I like to see my rear tire when backing up for curbs and such...dont want curb rash. If you angle the bottom mirror down to see the tire, you cant see dick 20' behind the truck at highway speed. Now I am 6'4" in the driver seat so I look down . Bigass blindspots Personally I would take my 2012 Tundra mirror over these massive tow mirrors. When I towed with my old truck I would just give it a wiggle every now and then see whats happening back there
