We use those all the time. I've never seen the magnetic ones either.

So basically, strut has a rolled lip on the front. If what your mounting to the strut has divits on the mounting holes to keep it off the wall, you need to use square washers so it doesn't sink into the strut. I'll see if I can find something at work tomorrow.

Well, after hibernating during that hellish 2 week heat wave we had, 105+° in my valley, the last 2 weeks are terrific, so new project time. Adding a VFD system to my mill. Ran new power, added a disconnect, a custom mount for the VFD to set it hanging off the right side of the head. Emergency Stop system!

Also buttoned up the latest build of the truck, new lights, grill, 20 hrs of detailing the paint, topping it off with a car cover, also did a little spray in the inner metalwork behind the grill.

So yeah, a little time to lurk, but being retired is being busy, when it's not too damn hot!!!

 

Sorry. Variable Frequency Drive. For starters, it takes in 240 vac single phase power, and converts it to 220 3 phase power. That is what powers the mill 1 hp motor. It will also provide electronic speed control. mid to high speed, cutting metal. Low, and very low speed for running taps in and outta holes, sawing a nice ability to have!!

 

Ended up throwing some vinyl on the Jeep tonight. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I’ll get it outside and see what it looks like.

So, I've had to work with the stuff before, but didn't know what it was called. I just remember hating pissing around with it when I went to Google and looked it up. Trying to get the nut into the right position in the channel was a pain in the ass IMO. But there's probably a secret I didn't know about. It makes sense now why you'd want a magnetic washer for that, though.

 

i havent used a hitch carrier in 20 years. Grandpa had one that held a honda elite on the back of the motorhome, i think he had some extra hardware he built to mount it more solid.

i want to get one for the buell, but i can still load things in the bed of the truck.



i cant find the video of the how-to video of the hot chick loading her motorcycle onto a hitch carrier. But it seems pretty straight forward.

Damn. I remember that video. The can on the installer was really impressive, enough so that I commented to that effect. Lemme see if I can find it.

 

Not much. Around 145lbs. I'd put it in my bed if I didn't have a camper shell.

The trick with strut and spring nuts is to pull the spring off, then loosely put it on the bolt. Then you hang whatever you're hanging. The nuts won't spin in the strut.

 

Oh yea, any of those hitch haulers will be more than enough. Can it quick change battery packs?

i'd go through it with a weld inspection and loctite to be save, maybe some turnbuckle tensioners to keep it square when the truck rolls side to side. Maybe a smaller piece of squce tubing inside the tube that penetrates the reciever. And some beast ass bike locks both wheels and chassis. Thats where i'm hung up on using one for the buell. Some jackass cuts a couple straps and now i've gotta pick 400lbs of bike up.

Cody, looks like the wrap went on really well. And, yes, most of us think it’s ok for best gen Tundra regulars to occasionally post updates on other interests. Lol… a Heep though … that’s testing the limits.

For stuff like this, I typically pre-assemble the faster itself and slide it into the strut itself, then tightened down loosely, slide into final position, and finish teightening. In your emergency/fire box example, I'd have measured what the center-to-center is and pre-mounted the tabs, then secured the box to the tabs.

But maybe I'm just doing it the hard way. For the LV work I'm typically doing, electricians have already come in and hung everything. I may be attaching cameras, wifi APs, sensors, or zip-tying cables to them, but I'm normally not mounting cans or other crap.

I think struts and uni-struts are different things though? Struts are what I call what Beau shows. Unistrut is what we use in some of our technology cabinets, with almost like a capture nut that floats inside the channel, no?

Joe Hauler. I found my mine used. Joe Hauler had always been recommended to me. This one might work for you, but I highly recommend trying to find a used Joe Hauler if you can, preferably the welded one.

To protect the rear window, I have a piece of ABS tubing that fits in between the front forks. It presses against the tire and fender. What it does is keep the forks from collapsing so 1. tie downs can't somehow come off and I lose the bike 2. handlebars don't smash through camper shell.

What time do you get going? Leo and polo have woken me up at 6 for so long, thats my default. If i've got somewhere to be, i know i wont sleep well, so i drive overnight and nap until morning.
If i stay up until dawn, i can usually be mostly active by noon, or nap until noon and run peak the rest of the day.

'05-06 is 3600rpm

Anyone hear or use Cenpeco gear oil, from Iowa. I delivered to a diesel shop for a bit and asked about straight 90w gear oil. He gave me a pamphlet and it is interesting. Paraffin wax base. Says they put it in all the heavy equipment that comes in and the Tundra would love it lol
