Im looking in to replacing my stock head unit with a pioneer DVD unit, it says you can run you camera output to it but what happens to the display in the mirror? Can you split the feed and have a dual display or is it one or the other? I like the line assist on the mirror, pretty sure the head unit won't give me that. I wouldn't mind having a larger screen to see on my initial back out to check for kiddos or pets. Does anyone have any experience or input they can share?

yep bank account is running low from it..
all you would need to do is tap into the two signal wires. Radio shack has a rca to bare leads. Tie your bare leads into the signal wires. Rca patch cable from the tie spot to your hu. Nothing else to it.

If my memory is correct you can grab the signal wiring in the driver side kick panel. I dont have the wiring diagram in front of me to tell you color code.

That's awesome you can just tap into the wires and have the display in two places.

You might have to add a diode toward to the hu to make it work, so you dont back feed the ccd from the hu. Basically the hu is a slave in this setup.

After having had the camera display in the mirror in my Tacoma and now in the HU of my Tundra, I can say there are pros/cons to both. While the large display I have now is great for image size, being in the dash means that it's also subject to a ton of sun glare from the windows. I end up having to hold my hand in front of it a lot in order to be able to see it. Having it in both places would be pretty sweet so you could use the HU as primary, but still have the mirror for when it's glared-out.
