I swear that I read that the 22 Tundra's would have Alexa and Siri integration but I can't find a thing on it now. I have found some how to videos on how to setup the Toyota + Alexa app but it doesn't work at all. I'm guessing that's for the older system? I'm I just crazy or does Alexa work with the new Tundra's and I'm just going about it all wrong?

I know about having Alexa remote start your truck for your Alexa at home, I'm talking about having Alexa work in your truck while driving around.

I use the Amazon Echo Auto to enable usage of Alexa in my truck. There's a usb plug inside the console for power. I leave the device in the console and it hears me fine.

So walk me through this if you don't mind. You have the Alexa Auto box in your console powered on when you start your truck. Do you setup a wifi hotspot for it every time or is it auto connecting to your truck hotspot? Are you just using the box as a standalone unit or is it connected to your trucks audio and mic? Sorry for all the questions I'm just looking for a reasonable and as seamless as possible solution for this.

The Echo Auto is seamless since it connects to your truck through bluetooth. It uses your phone's signal to access the internet. Once I start my truck and my phone is with me, Alexa (Echo Auto) automatically connects to my phone. Yes, it connects to your truck's audio and mic. The only drawback is that Alexa can only connect using one phone at a time. When my wife drives the truck, the Echo Auto won't connect on her phone since it's programmed to only connect on mine.

    Hope this helps.

well that seems like a very real solution! I just assumed that you had to serve the box with internet every time, I didn't realize that your phone would set that up automatically for you. So there is no second action that you have to make every time you start your truck? And is there any lost functionality for the factory setup? Any weird bluetooth problems like you can't use your truck to make calls and have alexa running at the same time? I may give that a shot! Thanks for your replies!

So I just went and read about the device. So I think I fully understand this now... Alexa doesn't connect to you truck at all, it connects only to your phone and the audio works through your phone to the truck via bluetooth. So you only have to pair your phone to the truck and not Alexa auto. That makes a lot of sense

So... this brings me to another question. If you are listening to music on android auto or XM radio and you ask alexa something, does the alexa voice play through the truck? Does it mute the music? Or do you have to be on your phones bluetooth source all the time for alexa audio to play through?
