These actually *should* be really cheap leases cause the residuals are so good. The dealer told me my SR5 would be 80% residual after 3/36000.

Unfortunately he couldn't explain the multitude of other phantom charges that made up the $750/mo quote. At that residual, leases on these vehicles should be well under $500/month but no dealer will actually give that, especially right now.

I agree, and have no interest in the 3rd gen, but the second gen brought about a significant price hike as well. New generations just do.

Yeah, 80% residual isn’t happening on any car that I am aware of. That’s the funny part, they tell you something and sell you something else. I still have 10 payments left but I don’t see anything changing anytime soon, not to mention no dealer will sell a 23 for $400 or less on a lease

I take your word for it. I had an 08 brand new. Sold like a year an half into owning it. Didn’t buy another new one till 2015.

they can't mess with the residuals, those are set by Toyota. Nor would they want to cause technically a lower residual would mean more money getting paid back to the financing company since your per mile cost is higher, where if they just manufacture BS charges, the dealer gets to keep that (anything above cap cost + tax + rate that they're buying the financing at goes to the dealer itself).

they can screw around with money factors and also just never give you a transparent breakdown of the numbers to where you wonder why 36 monthly payments equals more than double the cap cost of the vehicle... but residual is a constant.

here is the best resource I know of for lease program detail --> https://forums.edmunds.com/discussi...2022-toyota-tundra-lease-deals-and-prices/p10

I have been offered a pretty dang good price for my truck three times now,, , the problem is I can not go to a dealer and purchase a vehicle! They do not have anything I want and the wait is indefinite??

I hear that. I'm looking at possibly downsizing because I don't tow like I thought I would/planned to, but good luck finding anything but a base model Taco if you want new. I'll be patient.

I am on the same boat. Well I sold my boat, so that’s that. Anyways I don’t really use it as a truck anymore to it’s full capacity. I do like the interior space, especially after going from a tundra to a taco, to now tundra. I still like having a truck because of the bed and being able to carry stuff that wouldn’t be possible with a suv, I definitely couldn’t go back to a car.

With the amount of money you pay for the new 2022, and all the tax increases in the US. Kinda offsets the gas prices and MPG you think? I'm not a fan of the new design either. Maybe if they tweak it a little more maybe. I will never get rid of my 2020.

I like the new design/3rd Gen in person as a stock setup. Pictures of it aren't as flattering to me unless the owner has done some mods (lift & tires specifically). That said, what I like about it is the front end. The view from the front looks great to me, but I have been duped on more than one occasion seeing one from the side or rear at a distance and just writing it off as a new GM/Chevy 1500. Not a compliment.

    pretty happy with my 2019

3rd gen has a longer, taller hood with raised humps on each side running front to back. One of the complaints I read about on here is that it is harder to see over and can have some nasty sun glare. Some have compared the visibility to a GM HD truck’s hood. I would probably want a front camera I could access any time with the 3rd gen.

2nd gen’s hood is shorter, more sloping, and I think the seat position is higher relative to the hood line.

the 6.2 but the 5.3 has the same issues. google Silverado Sierra lifter issues, it is a massive problem and I don't even know how they can sell these vehicles with these issues continuing to persist. I had the lifter failure twice like most people and the nail in the coffin was another issue like two weeks later that they couldn't diagnose or fix, finally I just told the service dept to have the front of house guys call me with an offer and I sold it the next day.

They don’t care because they have diehard Chevy fans that will risk it. There are also people that are not aware of the issues because they don’t do research. They just buy it because it’s new and shiny.

For some reason I thought that was due to one bad batch of lifters that had been resolved, which shows how closely I've been paying attention.

I will be using my V-8 Tundra as a coffin. I drive a work truck during the week and drive the Tundra on the weekends. Only put 3,000 miles a year. Wanting to Supercharge when paid off. Would get a new Tundra if they brought back the V-8, but that will never happen. They will be all electric in the near future.

Ridiculous pricing is a big issue, but I think a lot of it is regional. I only paid 38k for my truck after trade in (only got 4 grand) with 2800 miles on it. I looked for a while though, and I think it having an 8' bed has a lot to do with it. I also drove to Connecticut to buy it, and I live in Tampa.

I don't think the V8 will add anything really significant to resale, if anything it will add a lot of perceived value to a small population of truck buyers, those who want something to last a really long time. There is a sadly quickly growing number of people who "I WANT A TRUCK... but I need a family sedan...".. the infamous crew cab perpetually empty short bed that never tows. Usually these are f150s which says something I guess but the point is there's a ton of people now who buy trucks because "AH WahNT UH TRUGGHHKKK", not because they need it to do anything noteworthy or last a while.
