I reduced my premium for theft to $0 (Statefarm), it was around $20/yr to make that change and they advised it would include Cat theft

I took a quick peek at the Talon shields, and they are nice. They are 1/4” 5052 Aluminum. Nobody is going to mess with 1/4” Aluminum; that’s pretty thick. It’s a good alloy also. All useful Aluminum is an alloy of some sort. They can make it strong enough to build airplane fuselages and wings for example. Talon says their Tundra cat shield is 5052 Aluminum, which is a good moderate strength and high corrosion resistance alloy. And, at a 1/4” thick, I’d be happy. There are no guarantees in this world, but with allen heads or anti-theft bolts, these look pretty good.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Talons Garage has a great price point!

I researched all the others and the thick aluminum and easy install was a no brainer for me.

Just installed my Tallon Cat shield today. Very well built and very heavy. Perfect fit and easy install with a friend helping. We had to prop it up on a box so not to have to hold the shield up while installing the bolts

Does the Tallon come with locking bolts or did you have to order it sep?

They have the Add-on covers for the rear. While not perfect (I'd rather they provided full coverage), they still act as a deterrent. Either way, that's all these covers are for, to try to deter someone from stealing yours and to get them to go to someone else's vehicle.
I'd like to build an all electric truck using VERY high amperage and run those beautiful orange cables through a fake exhaust then park it in areas of high cat theft..... Or adapt one of those South African anti-carjacking flame thrower to go off when someone touches the exhaust with a saw blade.

I believe the only add-ons are for 2018+. I have a '14. Valhalla has front and rear however his wait time is 4+ weeks.

I understand its for deterrent therefore Im going to etch the cats and paint them PLUS the shields. haha. I travel a good bit and stay in hotels by the interstate which can be a hot spot for a thief.

You can also bend it back fairly easily. But yes, the rear hook needs to be addressed on the factory TRD skid plate for the cat shield to fit.

As many have said, Valhalla and Talons are, ehem... very similar. Talons can ship next day, and Valhalla is a long wait.

I will add that I was quite underwhelmed with the hardware that came with my Talons shield. Thin washers, very long bolts, allen heads...

For an extra $9 I went to Lowes and got hex head correct length bolts and double as thick washers.

Got the miller cats yesterday and got em in (main plate and rear add-ons). Crossed fingers they are enough of a deterrence.

    Stock....for now

Mine came with a cover/skid plate combo. 1700 option that was added to all the Gulf State Tundras from my understanding.

Do you know the size of the bolts? I was thinking of ordering a shield along with some tamper resistant flat head screws that would be flush like the ones from Miller.. Seeing if McMaster has any.

Mind if I step in with a Q?

Looked under our 2015 DC…cat shield or skid plate? At first though cat shield, but they still look accessible.

(yes, I’m missing the front stick little skid plate)

Looks like you have a 'front cat' plate. there are a few companies that have rear plate extensions - but you typically have to use their front plate as well. However, the rear cats can still be seen - but it would pretty difficult to cut in front of the rear cats. Pics below.

I have the MillerCats and like them so far:

Thanks, helpful. Those look good…maybe I’ll look at those for the Sequoia.

The Desert Eagle guy is not far from me, so might be a good option as well.

I bought the getcatsecurity.com shields, a little late but they'll be there to protect the next set. I'll let you know how they look when I get the truck back. For those interested, they were very helpful when I called with questions and they shipped quickly.

I kinda have glossed over this topic but in the back of my mind been wanting to do this. Leaning toward taco tunes for price and availability but do these install with a 3/1 lift or are spacers needed?

unless they have come out with one recently, they don’t fit TRD Pro skids or hybrids. :(

Shielding isn’t affected by lifts unless you have repositioned your motor/trans. There is a difference in hybrid/non-hybrid models. Probably because there’s an electric motor between the engine and trans which relocates everything. Also a Pro skid plate eliminates some shield applications. I would verify your setup before making your purchase.

Call them and talk to Josh. He can answer the lift question. They do make a shield for hybrids. I’m very happy with my shield; great price, arrived in 4 days and installed by myself in less than 20 min.

I’ve got the TRD front skidplate and the talon cat shield, very happy with both. What is available for a rear cat shield that is compatible with the talon (are they even close to each other?)

What are people's thoughts on MillerCat vs Talon's Garage, vs something else? Looking to get a full skid-plate + cat protection for underneath my Platinum that will also work with the TRD lift-kit/suspension.

I ordered the front plate from Talon. Do we need the rear plate too? I thought I read that they couldn't get at the rear cats to cut them off.

Talon covers both cats on 2022 so you dont need anything else. Make sure you order security bolts from Talon as well

Talon has advantage that it's a single piece 1/4 aluminum plate, no screws needed to attach the sides.

Talon also has very good proprietary screws that they sell as an add on. It's a very secure special screwdriver end that you can't buy anywhere else, I'm a security professional in the field and never seen one like that. You can't get any better than this.

Idk about the Trd or lift kit... I think I read somewhere that it was tight but they managed to squeeze it in, do more research on the forum
