They we’re looking into price matching but Toyota told them there they couldn’t send the kit. Romeoville Toyota has the SST 137FA0B2-2125-4379-BB44-B0EDDF3F2111.jpg

That's solid, roughly $4500 all-in and a 3 year warranty to boot. Here's to hoping there's a Pro kit in the works since Toyota has Westcott Desgins building a lifted Pro Sequoia for SEMA. I like the look of their collar lift, but hoping for something actually functional for trips on mountain trails would be nice for when are in Colorado, Utah or even Tennessee

Hopefully you get a good installation deal as that cost seems to be running wild.

There’s no way this list takes 7-9 hours. I was quoted that too initially but ended up being almost 20+ hours. I ended up paying 2900 with alignment and new tires mounted. The first dealers was charging me 4K for install.

That quote was even before I told him, I've dealt with the Air Dam so skip that and skip step 5. "Remove OEM Fog Lights"... That should save a lot of time.

Yeah, they didn’t do anything with the fog lights on mine either because I requested them not to mess with it.

I think it’s a state regulation thing. Due to the height of the vehicle

Someone in this thread a few days ago mentioned a stop sale on the kit so they are not shipping any more.

The warranty will only be one year. The only way it will be the three year is if the kit was purchased as part of the sale of the truck.

    Are you sure about that?

I am asking because of 2 reasons:
    1. That’s not what I have been told by my parts/service department at my local dealer that I will be using

    2. When most of us bought our trucks you couldn’t buy a kit as part of the purchase.

B99F4C83-3418-461E-90F4-C6F46F7A2583.jpg Hey guys, I would like y’all’s opinion on this. I had the TRD lift kit installed and I had the TRD skid plate on there. They did the install and the plate was still used. There is a very small gap between the skid plate and the sway bar. It’s not creaking or making any noises I just want to know if this will affect anything down the road. The instructions for the kit don’t mention anything about a potential skid plate. 9050FB24-15BB-452F-9C58-DB84DC6812F6.jpg

Will effect anything down the road? Potentially. All depends on how aggressively you off road. If you're on a trail, you now have the potential to bash your sway bar instead of the skid plate. The skid plate is designed to take the hit, the sway bar isn't. The sway bar is heavy, but hollow (if I recall the new design correctly). That's what allows it to "twist" and reduce sway...but it also makes it susceptible to blunt impacts. If it gets hit, say by going over a boulder while off roading, it has the potential to bend the sway bar.

I find it very odd that Toyota decided it was ok to relocate the sway outside of the skid plate when they engineered their sway drop/relocation bracket. Usually, if the sway bar drop kit (or relocation bracket) forces the sway to drop below the skid plate, they'll also provide longer skid plate bolts & spacers. At least, that's been my experience in the past with other manufactures.

Of course, if your truck is a mall crawler or you just very lightly off road (not why you would've gone with this lift kit, if that's the case)...I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I appreciate the feedback. I found it strange as well and makes the skid plate pretty much useless. The flex alone will rub the sway Bar on the plate eventually. I’ll see if any modifications can be done to the plate or I’ll just drop it. I do and plan on doing off roading in the near future. We’ll see

Makes sense. Even though your sway bar is exposed, you're still protecting your oil pan and transfer case with the plate.

I might consider ordering some longer bolts for the skid plate and some nylon spacers from McMaster-Carr. Nylon - Unthreaded Spacers: https://www.mcmaster.com/spacers/unthreaded-spacers/nylon-unthreaded-spacers/. That should allow you to fashion your own skid plate drop. I guess it would depend how far you had drop it. At a certain point you'll be balancing protection vs reducing approach angle.

As I think about it more...I'm really surprised at this. I mean, Toyota would have to assume (just common sense in my book) that a Tundra owner who is buying the TRD Factory Lift would probably also have or be purchasing the TRD Factory Skid Plate.

Did you do the install yourself or did a dealer do it? I'm going to comb through the install instructions. I find it this very odd (& a little disappointing) if they didn't consider this in the design.

the dealership did the install on the lift. I reached out to them this morning and they said they could modify the plate so it doesn’t rub on the sway bar but still doesn’t explain why the TRD plate or sway bar was designed this way.

Also by modifying they mean cutting into it. lol

I combed through the install instructions yesterday and it did not mention TRD PLATE or anything. Someone else on the forum told me that their dealer said I was not compatible with the lift so they removed it.

I looked through the install instructions: On Pages 39 & 40, it gives instructions on how to modify the OE skid plates (they call them "Engine Undercovers") but it only lists instructions for the basic "Felt Type Undercover" and the "Plastic-polymer Type Undercover" in the install instructions. The instructions provide printable templates that the dealership is supposed to use in order to cut the 2 OE style "undercovers" but that means the sway bar still sits outside of the "skid plate." Since it gives no instructions for the TRD Skid Plate, I'm surprised it's not listed under the "Conflicts" section of the install instructions.

I'll have to take a glance at the sway bar drop kit that comes with my incoming Icon suspension lift. Makes me wonder if it's going to drop the sway bar down enough to interfere with the TRD skid plate.
