Hey everyone. Looking for some real thin door trim guards. I bumped my door on the house the other day while cleaning it and nicked the paint right next to the door handle. So of course I see it every time I open the door and it drives me nuts. I do have touch up paint so I'll correct it.

I don't really want the real thick black or clear types though. My dads '21 Rav4 has a real thin, maybe quarter inch guards from the factor but I'm sure they want a fortune for them for the Tundra. Anyone have luck or experience buying from Amazon or another place? TIA.

It's a shame those aren't stock for new trucks, at least on higher trims.

Yeah I'll die a little bit inside as well. It doesn't look bad at all on yours. Goes with the fenders a little bit.

I'm going to get some for mine, will post when I get it installed. I dinged the drivers door, wife dinged the passenger, I touched it up but, I need to add protection cause of us old farts. :D Think the Amazon stuff could be painted?

I tried the OEM ones from Sparks. They were a BEYATCH. I tried for 4 hours to install those things, and they would just keep popping off. No adhesive, just held on by pressure. Sparks stepped up and gave me a refund. If you go the OEM route, I recommend having the dealer install, but then, you’d probably have $200 into them. Not worth it in my opinion.

I'm curious to see how they turn out. I'm debating between clear and black

@Sierradevil I saw your post before you deleted it. Not everything of quality needs to be at a 88% margin. I'm all about spending money on quality and getting quality parts. But some markups cannot be justified.

Whatever brand or vendor I use, the L profile ones with double sided tape have always served me well through 3 different vehicles. Not expensive, no metal clips, easy to install and they have never come loose. Used them on my Challenger and Tundra after the autozone crap slid off and have them on my F150 and have never had to pay them attention again once installed.

That's the best part of these forums. Being able to get information and examples to make decisions. I do appreciate your insight on it as well. It's annoying having to pay so much for OEM products but sometimes aftermarket just doesn't cut it.

I'm anxious to see what others are using and their reviews on it. OEM or aftermarket.

Thanks! It is what it is. Being able to custom cut them helped a lot. Honestly what bothers me most about them now is washing/waxing around them. I got pretty spoiled after debadging its so much eaiser. Now these pesky edge guards grab at my towels. Lol! First world problems.

Would love to see those pics when done. I removed the OEM clear door guards(tape) they put on when I purchased.

Those look better than I thought they would tbh. Do you have one of the entire truck? Im asking because I just removed the OEM door guard stickies which look awful bc they were so dirty. Im jsut curious if those leave a distinct line.

Also, are those stuck on with adhesive or do they use pressure to stay on the truck?

No adhesive, so they won't leave any residue. I will take one of the whole truck tonight.

No adhesive is convenient. I just wished they were ribbed like that and were smooth.
