I need to do mine. Was it just drain/fill or did you the temp test after?

I did do the temp test after. I drained cold and filled cold, I think I remember pushing a pin on the passenger side and checking while warm. Some fluid did come out, but not much.

Bumper is off. Here are the bent brackets. I’m gonna straighten them out and get some gussets in. 85851C03-B315-4565-BB29-EA9884FEE000.jpgD5890B5C-7145-462F-8E1A-64980CD4F825.jpg

Bent the mounts back the best I could, bumper temporarily back on without the winch. Got the gussets cut, I’ll tack them on and then weld them with the bumper off.
Also, if you have this bumper, you may want to check the hardline on the driver side. The mount seemed to be rubbing a small amount, so I cut the corner off.

I’m segmenting the tubing in certain spots to be able to push it together. The twist was the tough one. Cut it about 80% through, push the seam together, then weld it.

For the fog lights, I just welded a tab horizontally with the upper tube. I can rotate it a bit if I crank on it for adjusting the rotation of the fogs. 7325A73C-3A86-475B-86F8-57F7EDE023AC.jpg 40C7734F-7336-472F-BB8A-4B60EE84BBFA.jpg

I know you're running the methods now, but how did the painted wheels do? Did the dirt and mud mess up the paint? Or did they hold up?

Also just read through all 27 pages, gotta say I'm extremely impressed with your painting skills

Thanks!! Tons of rocks, mud, dirt on lots of trails. When I sold them, I had one rock chip on one of the wheels about the size of a tic tac. The 2K automotive clear does a great job. I can’t remember how many coats I did (3?), but they held up great.

    so no staining the clear?

Do you remember what matte black you used? I like the graphite but I feel like its not dark enough...
2k clear in gloss, semi gloss or matte?

I just used regular med solids clear from a paint shop. I bet a high solid clear would be a better choice, since it would be more durable. I used gloss.
After rereading your last post, are you talking about when I painted the wheels black or graphite? For the graphite, I used Duplicolor wheel paint, for the black, Rustoleum Professional matte black. Those were cleared in Rustoleum matte finish. Those got beat up pretty nice, and they were starting to fade since I didn’t use an automotive clear.

Sweet, I'm thinking about doing black for my wheels, I'll make sure to do the gloss automotive clear
Would you recommend this stuff for it? Or something better?

That stuff will work well. Top notch for a rattle can 2 part clear. I used it on my UCAs.

The mount is still super strong. Just make sure to use nuts and bolts to mount the clamp, and get an extinguisher that has a clamp mount, not a hanger. The rear piece just comes off with pry tools, but it’s pretty strong, so take your time and work around the edges.

Moving along! Tomorrow I’ll grind a shitload more and give her some self etching primer. For now I’m gonna paint the whole thing with Rustoleum professional black. Then I’ll make the panels for behind the tubes. 7C271151-7252-4004-BBB6-ADC2ACD8C76B.jpg8E2A0065-5B19-4135-B87D-A5D90D65BFB2.jpg
