    I have video feed now.

This is how it is wired to work. Not sure why I'm not using the little red wire but I swapped the yellow out and got video.

I also have this unit and not a huge fan of it. Bluetooth connection to Android Auto is horrible, when I use the cable the phone goes through battery like crazy and it's glitchy. Also my phone conversations through this are impossible to hear. I still have oem amp and speakers from a 20 TRD Pro. Any solutions? Thanks

I still don’t understand how this tech works. But if I’m sitting in my truck fucking off on my phone, that’s when it seems to do it, almost like I’m stealing bandwidth or something. Also when I’m in a bad cell area it’ll do it.

When in poor cellular signal areas mine will also sort of pause sometimes. It doesn’t disconnect, just hiccup. Just nature of the beast is what I believe. It’s transferring lots of data….

It dropped wireless CarPlay again today driving through my neighborhood. My phone showed 1 bar of 4g. When I go to hit the connect button, it’s totally grayed out. I get home about 3 blocks away and I am able to reconnect my phone. So I don’t know if it’s a coverage issue, a head unit issue, phone issue, or a combo of all.

AA and Carplay aren't perfect so it may just have some minor dead zones or weak areas.

My main carplay issue is I lose it/other devices like my Escort M2 or now the ROKU when I want them because they all need different "networks" connected to the phone.

The ROKU has the hotspot, the problem is carplay wants to keep the connection to the HU & keeps grabbing it back, it happened on the old unit with it arguing with the XM tuner. After about the 6th time I put it back it stops, then it's hard getting carplay back later :p 1st world problems.

    lol

Yup, or from whatever I am using at the time like XM, USB, HD radio etc, it's 100% Carplay being a dick. I'm researching how to get it to stop.

Maybe AA is more docile because that hasn't happened to me. Weird!

It's almost as if the connection stops then picks back up again

Is Waze/Maps always full screen? I haven't seen anything that would allow it to fit in the window on the home screen like USB, HDMI, radio etc does. Found a Remote holder lol.

I called Kenwood, they say it's an HDMI limitation, nothing plugged in there will allow screen control. Maybe they are wrong & Pioneers will work.

I have a Pioneer but I'll look into it. I don't see how HDMI would affect it.

I have had NEX 72,4,6 & 7800s over the decades & remember the phone when mirrored via HDMI did not allow radio screen control, same for older Kenwoods.

That makes me think it's an HDMI limitation. I like not having to dedicate the phone to my video feed so it's worth it to have to use the remote.

I'm open to that being wrong!

    Nothing.... yet.
It's an hdmi limitation. If you have a sound system plugged into your TV at home thru hdmi, you won't get proper control over it unless the TV has an hdmi arc plug. It's kinda like the first usb 3.0 plugs... part if it was for the dedicated power, part of it was for the data. Same thing with hdmi, except it's 1 way vs 2. IF the hdmi plug is arc supported, and the device is arc supported, then it might work.

And I need a remote holder! I feel I'm doing my HU dirty by leaving the remote buried in the center console. lol
