Has anyone figured out how to completely, permanently disable the auto engine stop? This is such a garbage worthless feature. 99% of the time my truck auto stops is when I’m putting it into park. Then when my foot comes off the brake the truck restarts. Then I’m immediately turning the truck off anyway. The truck is turning off and restarting then turning off again in a matter of a couple seconds.

It’s not saving me any gas, it is shortening the life of the components involved.

other items that need disabled are the seat belt chime, and the Beeping when you close the door while the trucks running with the keys in your pocket.

9 pretty happy months with this truck but my biggest complaints are the worthless nany systems

You can turn off the seatbelt chime with Carista along with other nanny features ;) I tried changing the noise reduction and “engine” noise features too but ended up keeping those on. I prefer the 6 flashes when touching the turn signal. I actually ended up leaving the seatbelt warning on, surprisingly. I don’t really put my seatbelt on without it ;)

I saw a mechanic doing a starter on a Toyota with start/stop feature. He showed on the techstream that once you change the starter out you have to reset the counter. He said there is a counter for how many time it starts/stops. Eventually he said that maybe at some point the start/stop will not work because Toyota figured the starter is good x amount of cycles. What that number is, he didn’t say. I have driven loaner with that feature and I hate it.

In 7 months of ownership I can probably count on both hands the number of times my truck has initiated the auto stop/start. When it does initiate it I’m at a stop light so it doesn’t bother me at all…in fact normally when it happened I didn’t know it had until I saw the little timer counting. What bugs you so much about it?

If you wait about 2 seconds before shifting to park after the engine has stopped while in drive, it won’t restart.

That’s all I got. You need to disconnect things to trick the vehicle into keeping engine on. Owner’s manual lists a bunch of preconditions for allowing stop/start.

Once stopped don’t press harder on the brake problem solved, takes some brain to leg training but once learned no longer an issue. Do agree way to many nanny features, I don’t need an audible warning when I move the seat back ffs.

your seat isnt supposed to beep when moving it, the dealer didn't set it up correctly upon delivery, there is already a forum about this issue somewhere if you search but basically the fix is to just move the seat all the way forward, all the way back, all the way up and all the way down and itll reset and the beep will go away

Every single engine stop it does is pointless and contributing to premature ware of parts. I rarely sit at stop lights. I don’t need my truck to cycle the engine off and back on when I got to turn off the truck.

What’s the exact model number of Carista you need? Looks like there’s not one for the 22 on the site?

doesn’t matter. Select any brand they just can’t put Toyota for marketing reasons or something.

Another example of “someone” controlling what we do for the greater good. And will only get worse. EV companies will have full control of your vehicle, I am sure Tesla already does.

I don’t think it would be too complicated to make a simple circuit that send a pulse a few seconds after the truck was turned on, simulating a button press (essentially automatically pressing the button for you).

Hondas did the same thing re the park reignition for years and I agree it is stupid. With the Hondas, if you're worried about it firing back up when you put it in park, shut off the truck in drive and shift it into park with the engine off. Do it while coasting to really confuse your passengers.

This is on my to do list. A product already exists that will do just this, I've just got to find time to install one. My gripe with this is the light will always be on. I thought something was messed up when it done it when shifted into park. I let a friend drive my truck and we felt the truck shutter because it shut off and back on right away, I thought there was a glitch or something causing it to momentarily kill the engine. Kinda like when you could turn the key off and back on, on an old carbureted engine to get a back fire.
