I put the order in December of 2021 for a black Tundra Hybrid Limited TRD Pro. I'm still waiting. Is there anything I can do?

Ask your sales rep where you are in line for your truck. Check in with your rep every couple weeks. Be flexible on some things as that will allow them to call you on allocations that are very similar, but not exactly what you want.

Clarify with your rep whether you are looking for a Limited Hybrid with TRD package vs a TRD Pro. The TRD Pro will have a longer wait. There is no such thing as a Limited TRD Pro.

    Stay the course my brother.
I put deposits at 3 separate dealers in 3 different states on 18 Nov 2021. I didn’t get mine until 18 Aug 2022. I wanted a Lunar Rock with red interior. I happened to get it by dumb luck.

unfortunately, the dealers don’t “order” from Toyota. Toyota allocates makes/models/build specs/colors to dealers based on their sales and region.

High volume dealers will probably get more allocations but there are also more apt to dealer markups as those dealers have much high overheads to cover for the reduced inventory. Smaller dealers usually give better customer service and no mark ups but you have to wait for them to get a truck.

Another consideration is to open up your color choice. Black is probably going to be a lower volume color option as Lunar Rock and White will probably be more popular. So if you don’t mind one of those or a solar octane, you may get one sooner.

I feel your pain, brochacho. But if you stay the course, you won’t be disappointed. :)

I've been checking in every 3 weeks or so, for the most part.

I went with the Limited with the TRD package. Was thinking "package" but wrote Pro for the title here. The dealership very aware of what I want. I've waited this long, I'd rather get what I want than settle for something I don't want, but I'd at least go look at something close. I just emailed him today again, we'll see what he says. This is ridiculous.

    Thanks for the response,

I also placed an “order” at a dealership with a deposit, mine for a Hybrid Limited Longbed back in December. I thought this was a custom order for my specific build that Toyota would construct just for me! (Naive illusion, at least in my case). I waited over 7 months, checking regularly “no news yet!”. Part of my problem is that the hybrid rollout was super slow and the build I wanted is like a unicorn.

I waited until mid-July when I learned after questioning them that this wasn’t actually an official “order” with Toyota but was actually just getting on a waiting list for whatever the dealer got allocated. I lost patience and cancelled the order and got a refund.

I then did what I think I should have done first, and started scouring dealer inventories, searching on Cargurus, Autotrader and getting email alerts for filters I set. I wanted a real, live truck at a dealership with the packages I wanted ready to be sold, instead of pie in the sky allocation and waiting list BS. I feel that many trucks received on « allocation » that were promised to buyers for no MSRP markup (as mine had been), were actually sold to buyers for massive MSRP upsells while still stringing along the waiting listers.

I found my amazing beautiful truck in 2 weeks, flew there and drove back. Super happy, no regrets. I did pay a dealer markup. I was willing to accept this knowing that my chances of finding another truck that met nearly all of my desired specs within (conceivable, I still drove 700 miles) driving distance was literally nil.

It was so much better for me to see my real live truck and drive her home than to stare at the build configurator. Some will of course have far different experiences with deposits and builds than I did! This however was my experience and I found it to be incredibly frustrating. I feel that Toyota should work direct with us, the customers, and have us build/configure, and then send the order direct to Toyota.

Personally, I would have been very happy to work direct with Toyota rather than a dealership. I would have preferred to complete all paperwork and payment details electronically and have my truck delivered to me direct. Dealerships are an outdated sales model and I hope for direct to driver sales from Toyota in the future.

    Thanks. Your truck looks awesome!

I'd go with a Red, but black or red, maybe blue... maybe. Would prefer black though.

I also put my deposit down in December. Just got my truck 3 weeks ago. Same type of config: Limited Hybrid with TRD package. I'm in the Austin area and my dealership didn't have to deal with any rail transport, just trucked over from the factory. Sales guys said mine was the very first hybrid with a TRD package they had seen. Long story short, I think this config just started rolling off the line. I'm sure you're getting close. It's a great truck, worth the wait!

No such animal as a "Limited TRD Pro" is in existence. Is it a Limited Hybrid with a TRD Off-Road package maybe? Or a TRD Pro (of which all are hybrid)?

The TRD Pro is its own model.

Kinda like asking for a "Quarter Pounder Big Mac."

Either way, the trucks with the hybrid engines didn't really get rolling out of the factory in any appreciable numbers until June/July so I'm sure there are many people waiting for these.

Edit -- oops, sorry, just read that someone else already stated this... Guess I should read the whole thread before responding.

I know about the allocation crap. What a load of shit that is.
<--- including myself. Meant to put "package" and put "Pro" -- for the 3rd time now, explaining for those that must point it out, it should have said "PACKAGE"

I have just about given up. Put down several thousand dollar deposit but keep calling all over the place looking to find one unclaimed or someone that couldn’t finance became available.

Thought I had one a month ago and was giving my credit card number as a deposit and it’s sold out from under me. Since then I haven’t been able to sniff a Trd pro.

If it makes you feel any better, I placed a deposit at three dealership in Canada on September 6th of last year, 2021, for the TRD Pro model, before the new Tundra was even announced by Toyota. Still nothing! Pretty sure I got bumped by the GM at one dealership, as I was told I was first in line and then months later, the salesman told me the GM was expecting his soon and I would be next.

I picked mine up today, same specs except Lunar Rock. I put my deposit down the first week of January.
