That is what Keith told me when he built my exhaust.

the fronts are definitely different then the rear.

they have a LOT more of the filtering (precious metals) than the rear.

When I turned mine in I found legit cat recycling places offer about 3x more for the front than the rear.

My front were 100% different than the rear. Also got a ton more money for them.

If they keep the O2 sensors from coming on if they’re installed in place of the front ones that’s really all I’m interested in, even if they are different. That would be a backup plan anyway, but I just want to know if they would serve that purpose mainly. Sounds like it worked for Bluecobra, I’m curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I'm running the DD race system as well with only the rear cats and it has been fine for the last three years until my most recent tune pretty sure I blew them out so now I'm looking at putting a new set of cats in as VA requires emissions

Pro Tip: Pulling the cats and selling them will pay for a good chunk of a full exhaust or headers.

I’d be all over this if my state didn’t do inspections with emissions.

    Added money to it.
You could always have kieth make you some midpipes with the cats that you can swap in there just for the inspection and then swap it back out after.

I got about $800 for all 4 of mine. And from what I'm told the newer Tundras cats are different and worth more than mine.

Thankfully, there are many more people who can explain things better than I can.

https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/x...-pipe will usually, out of the cylinder faster.

It also get rid of the helicopter sound and reduce drone by quite a bit.

Mine sounds great currently without an X pipe. But I do plan on adding one just to smooth it out a bit more. I've got a bit more "helicopter" than I'd like.

How many miles do you put on the truck? 5000 and under doesn’t need emissions testing in PA. My 350Z was catless and never had an issue with yearly inspections due to low mileage.

Usually I tack on around 10k a year unfortunately. What year was your Z? I had one for a brief stint. 03 with full bolt ons, 6 speed. It was mint. It was also catless. Ran pretty good! Sure stank though without the cats. I miss it and sometimes regret selling it, but I wouldn’t have the supercharger otherwise. upload_2022-9-16_14-15-56.jpg

It was an 08 6 speed in white. Bought it new. Sold it last year in fantastic condition 44k miles on it for $18k. Which directly funded the supercharger build.

Yes the fumes stunk and I hated that, droned a lot too, got annoying unless WOT. That’s why I’m not touching the exhaust on the Tundra. It wasn’t the fastest car but I was incapable of driving it slow. It had 4.08 gears, exhaust and a tune. Enough to run 12.77 @111 in the quarter mile on street tires, faster on slicks but the added grip made the clutch slip and axles break.

I couldn't stand the smell of the s/c Tacoma when it was catless. Especially with it being stored in the garage, letting it warm up in the winter was terrible. Ended up running long tubes with stock midpipe and secondary cats

Strange, I don't have any odor from my truck being catless and it is parked in my man-cave garage every night right where I hang watching TV, or working on something.

I have the Deeds race exhaust with the X pipe and initially I still had the cats, but when I added the Harrop it blew out one of them and it sounded like ASS. All raspy, flappy, not good. So I had Keith make me 2 18 inch resonators to put in place of the cats in the midpipes. Sounds good now and no cats at all. A little louder at WOT than I would like but I live with it.

Hey thanks to this thread finally pulled the trigger on a supercharger. Got a Magnuson installed at Bellevue Toyota. 2021, came with OV tune and seems to be running great. There seems to be a little bit of a faint noise around 1800rpm (like a boiling sound, hard to describe, hope its not pinging). The other thing I wasn't sure about is the inter-cooler/lines always seem ambient temp after 20 minutes of normal driving (is the there an obvious way to know the pump is running?). I had to do the charcoal filter delete (new intake) and coolant bypass again. I replaced the provided K&N filter with a WIX right away as well.

Hilarious to spin the tires so easily now.

For the sake of accuracy, it didn't come with OVTune. OVTune/VFTuner doesn't make supercharger tunes for Magnuson. Magnuson uses VFTuner to tune the 2019-21 Tundras with their MagSC, with their own tune

My bad didn't know the difference there. So sounds like VFTunner hardware/software is just the delivery device for a Magnuson made tune? Compared to the BullyDog of prior years.
